Staff Nurse Endoscopy

About the Role

Dallah Healthcare is seeking a Staff Nurse - Endoscopy to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time role involves delivering high-quality patient care within the Endoscopy unit, ensuring adherence to clinical standards and professional development. The Staff Nurse will assess patient needs, assist in preparation, and implement nursing care processes to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, ensuring safe working practices.
• Set, monitor, and maintain excellent standards of nursing care.
• Work with minimal supervision during endoscopic procedures, patient admissions, and recovery.
• Maintain personal contact with patients and relatives, ensuring courtesy, dignity, privacy, and a friendly environment.
• Participate in the care and maintenance of endoscopes and other equipment, ensuring agreed standards of decontamination and accurate traceability records.
• Ensure the safe discharge of all patients from the endoscopy unit.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment within the clinical area according to established standards.
• Ensure continuity of care through clear and accurate take-over and handover reports.
• Follow doctors' orders and patient management plans, including immediate notification of any patient deterioration.
• Maintain appropriate records of patient progress according to hospital policies.
• Ensure the safety of patients, relatives, and staff.
• Report untoward incidents, accidents, or staff sickness to the Charge Nurse.
• Maintain current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age and patient conditions.
• Calculate, prepare, monitor, and discontinue fluids and medication drips.
• Take an active role in the prevention and control of infection.
• Contribute to the induction of new staff and act as a mentor when appropriate.
• Participate in the Quality Improvement Program within the area of responsibility.
• Commit to further development of clinical skills and knowledge, actively seeking learning opportunities.
• Ensure all drug and IV fluid records are up-to-date and observe rules governing the storage and custody of scheduled drugs and narcotics.
• Maintain skill and knowledge in using various medical devices such as ECG machines, defibrillators, infusion/syringe pumps, and different types of endoscopes.
• Participate in nursing education programs, in-service training, symposiums, and workshops to maintain skills and knowledge.
• Ensure necessary financial records are maintained for the Finance Department.

Required Competencies and Experience

• Experience: 2-5 years in a relevant nursing role.
• Competence in the care of patients undergoing endoscopy procedures.
• Proficiency in the maintenance and reprocessing standards of endoscopes and accessory equipment.
• Ability to participate in patient and family education to enhance understanding and involvement in care decisions.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position within the Endoscopy unit at Dallah Hospital in Riyadh. The role requires collaboration with colleagues and support from the Director of Nursing to ensure professional development and adherence to clinical standards.
