About Mace and the Project

Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to deliver projects. The company is seeking experienced Associate Construction Directors to join the delivery team for a major stadium programme in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This project is part of a larger mixed-use development that includes sports facilities, entertainment, arts, and associated infrastructure.

Role Summary: Associate Construction Director (Night Shifts)

This full-time Associate Construction Director position involves senior site leadership, primarily overseeing construction delivery during night shifts. The role requires providing leadership to the construction management team and ensuring contractors adhere to safety, efficiency, and programme requirements. The initial focus will be on civil, structural, and superstructure works. The night-shift arrangement is expected to last for a minimum of approximately 18 months, with six nights worked per week during each six-week rotation.

Key Responsibilities

Provide overall construction leadership and direction for night-shift operations.
Lead, coordinate, and support Senior Construction Managers, Construction Managers, and the wider site delivery team.
Oversee civil, structural, and superstructure works across multiple construction packages and work fronts.
Maintain a visible senior leadership presence across the site throughout the night shift.
Drive contractor performance, ensuring works progress safely and in accordance with agreed programme, quality, and delivery requirements.
Coordinate complex interfaces between contractors, construction packages, and the wider project delivery team.
Identify critical construction, programme, sequencing, and interface risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation or escalation.
Lead resolution of significant site issues and make informed construction decisions during night operations.
Challenge contractors on productivity, sequencing, safety, quality, and overall construction performance.
Ensure robust reporting, shift records, construction logs, and handovers are maintained across the night operation.
Provide clear escalation and reporting to senior project and construction leadership.
Ensure effective handover and alignment between night and day-shift construction teams.
Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and site management.
Support programme-wide construction planning, sequencing, and delivery strategies.

Qualifications and Experience

Degree or equivalent qualification in construction management, civil engineering, or a related built-environment discipline.
Relevant professional membership or chartership is advantageous.
Significant senior construction management experience appropriate to an Associate Director-level position (+10 years).
Extensive construction leadership experience on major, complex projects or programmes.
Strong background in civil, structural, superstructure, and major building construction.
Proven experience leading construction teams and overseeing multiple contractors, packages, and work fronts.
Experience developed through a main contractor environment, with significant practical site delivery experience. Candidates who have subsequently moved into PMC or client-side delivery are also relevant.
Strong understanding of construction methodology, sequencing, temporary works, logistics, and site interfaces.
Demonstrable experience managing contractor performance and resolving complex construction issues.
Comfortable operating with significant autonomy and making senior-level decisions during night operations.
Strong leadership presence with the ability to challenge contractors and influence senior project stakeholders.
Experience delivering major stadiums, large-scale venues, or similarly complex building programmes is advantageous.
Experience working within Saudi Arabia or the wider Middle East is advantageous.
