Mechanical Inspector

About the Role

Astron Group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspector specializing in tanks to join our team in Al Khobar, Eastern Region. This full-time role involves performing inspection and quality control activities for tank manufacturing and fabrication, ensuring strict compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

Role Purpose

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that all tank manufacturing and fabrication processes adhere to approved drawings, project specifications, applicable industry standards, fabrication requirements, and ISO 9001 quality standards. The Mechanical Inspector will be responsible for maintaining high quality throughout the production lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct vendor inspections of tanks across all manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, and testing stages.
• Verify materials, dimensions, welding, fabrication, fit-up, workmanship, and testing against approved drawings and specifications.
• Review engineering drawings, inspection procedures, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), specifications, and applicable standards.
• Ensure compliance with API 650, API 653, ASME Section IX, and relevant SSPC requirements.
• Perform inspections independently with minimal supervision and accurately document all findings.
• Identify, report, and follow up on quality deviations and non-conformities.
• Review inspection and test records to ensure all required quality documentation is complete.
• Coordinate with vendors, manufacturers, QA/QC teams, and project stakeholders to resolve inspection-related issues.
• Prepare comprehensive inspection reports and support final quality documentation and acceptance activities.

Required Experience

Candidates should possess 5 to 10 years of experience in mechanical inspection, specifically with tanks. This role requires a strong understanding of relevant industry codes and standards.

This is a full-time position based in Al Khobar, Eastern Region. The role involves working closely with manufacturing teams, vendors, and project stakeholders to ensure quality assurance throughout the tank fabrication process.
