About the Role

Halian is seeking an APIGEE Engineer (m/f/d) for a full-time position in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role involves contributing to the development of a world-class API platform for a prominent technology organization and Google Cloud strategic partner. The platform supports large-scale, mission-critical digital services within a modern Google Cloud environment.

Role Overview and Context

As an Apigee X Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, securing, and optimizing enterprise-scale APIs. You will collaborate with platform teams, cloud engineers, security specialists, and business stakeholders to deliver highly secure and scalable API solutions. This position contributes to a national-scale transformation program within a high-calibre engineering environment focused on modern API architecture, Apigee X, cloud-native integrations, security, and platform engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain API proxies using Apigee.
• Develop and manage enterprise-grade APIs throughout their lifecycle.
• Implement API security controls including OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, threat protection, and traffic management.
• Configure Shared Flows, KVMs, Flow Hooks, Target Servers, and reusable API components.
• Troubleshoot and optimize API performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Support API governance and best-practice implementation.
• Participate in CI/CD deployment and automation initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineering and cloud teams across a large transformation program.
• Contribute to API platform modernization and migration initiatives, including Apigee X.

Required Skills and Experience

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of experience, with a focus on specialized skills rather than generalist experience. The ideal candidate will have spent the majority of their recent career working with Apigee, Apigee X, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), API Security, and Enterprise API Governance. Experience primarily focused on other API management platforms such as AWS API Gateway, Azure API Management, or MuleSoft is not the primary focus for this role.

Engagement Information

This is an initial 12-month engagement with a strong likelihood of extension, dependent on project demands and performance. The compensation package offered is tax-free.
