Maaden is seeking a Director, Industrial Artificial Intelligence to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is central to leveraging operational data and emerging AI capabilities to enhance safety, productivity, reliability, and efficiency across Maaden's exploration, mining, mineral processing, and industrial assets.

Role Overview

The Director, Industrial Artificial Intelligence is responsible for shaping the strategy and portfolio that transforms high-value operational challenges into scalable AI solutions. This position connects operational priorities with AI, data, digital, OT, and engineering capabilities to improve various aspects of operations, including safety, productivity, recovery, reliability, process stability, energy efficiency, and sustainability. The role focuses on moving Industrial AI beyond experimentation into production and sustained operational adoption, while establishing the necessary capabilities, governance, partnerships, and responsible AI practices for enterprise-wide impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Shape and evolve Maaden’s Industrial AI strategy and investment portfolio, directing resources towards opportunities with strong strategic, operational, and economic value.
• Translate operational priorities into a balanced portfolio of scalable AI opportunities with clear value, feasibility, risk, and adoption criteria.
• Establish the operating model, standards, and governance required to scale Industrial AI responsibly and consistently across operations.
• Drive measurable improvements in safety, productivity, recovery, reliability, process stability, cost, energy efficiency, and sustainability through targeted Industrial AI solutions.
• Advance AI-enabled decision-making across various operational domains.
• Lead the development and deployment of production-grade AI capabilities that address complex industrial and operational challenges at scale.
• Enable effective integration of AI with operational technology, control systems, and relevant enterprise technology.
• Govern Industrial AI solutions across model performance, reliability, cybersecurity, data governance, explainability, operational safety, and responsible AI requirements.
• Build and lead an integrated Industrial AI function, strengthening both AI capability and operational domain expertise.
• Develop senior partnerships across operations, engineering, Digital, OT, IT, Enterprise AI, and business functions.
• Cultivate strategic relationships with technology providers, OEMs, universities, and research institutions to accelerate innovation.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in Industrial Artificial Intelligence or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to translate operational challenges into scalable AI solutions.
• Experience in developing and deploying production-grade AI capabilities in an industrial setting.
• Proficiency in establishing governance and operational assurance for AI solutions.
• Proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams and fostering strategic partnerships.

Success Factors

Success in this role will be measured by a prioritized Industrial AI portfolio that delivers demonstrable operational and financial value aligned with Maaden’s strategic priorities. This includes measurable improvements in safety, productivity, recovery, reliability, process stability, energy efficiency, cost, and sustainability through AI solutions. The successful candidate will ensure high-value AI use cases progress from experimentation to sustained adoption and operational ownership, with solutions demonstrating reliable performance and effective governance. Collaboration with enterprise AI, Digital, OT, IT, and operational teams to accelerate delivery and reduce duplication is also key. A high-performing Industrial AI function with strong technical and domain capability, effective leadership succession, knowledge transfer, and external partnerships will signify success.
