About Zid and the Role

Zid is dedicated to building the infrastructure that underpins retail success in Saudi Arabia, enabling merchants to establish, expand, and scale their businesses through a unified commerce ecosystem. We are seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position requires 5-10 years of experience and focuses on developing reliable mobile experiences, addressing complex technical challenges, and translating product concepts into high-quality features that deliver tangible impact. The role involves a primary focus on mobile development, with opportunities to contribute to web frontend development as product priorities dictate.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and deploy complex mobile features utilizing React Native and Expo across both iOS and Android platforms.
• Convert Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), designs, and acceptance criteria into scalable technical solutions and production-ready software.
• Ensure mobile product quality from initial technical planning through to release readiness.
• Develop fast, responsive, accessible, and Right-to-Left (RTL)-ready experiences for users in both Arabic and English.
• Contribute to web frontend features using React and TypeScript when product priorities require it.

Technical Focus and AI-Assisted Engineering

• Design mobile experiences that maintain functionality and predictability when network connectivity is weak, interrupted, or unavailable.
• Implement local data models, caching mechanisms, migrations, synchronization, retries, and conflict handling using technologies such as SQLite or Realm Database.
• Integrate REST APIs and manage asynchronous data and application state using tools like Redux Toolkit or TanStack Query.
• Debug and optimize application performance across various devices, operating systems, and network conditions.
• Utilize AI coding agents, including Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor, as an integral part of the daily engineering workflow.
• Provide clear context to AI coding agents, segment work into meaningful steps, and direct them effectively across the codebase for tasks such as implementation, testing, debugging, refactoring, maintenance, and technical documentation.

Quality, Testing, and Technical Leadership

• Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using tools such as Jest, React Testing Library, or Detox.
• Assume ownership of technical decisions regarding mobile architecture, quality standards, security, and release readiness.
• Debug complex issues specific to iOS, Android, network configurations, and devices.
• Support mobile Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), application releases, monitoring, and store submission processes.
• Identify technical debt and work towards continuous improvement of the mobile codebase's architecture and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams to define scope, assess feasibility, identify risks, and evaluate technical options.
• Lead technical discussions and clearly explain complex engineering concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Mentor less experienced engineers through pairing, code reviews, and providing written guidance.
• Lead high-impact initiatives, unblock teammates, proactively identify and surface risks, and enhance engineering workflows.

• 5-10 years of experience in mobile engineering.
