About WSP in the Middle East

WSP in the Middle East is seeking a Landscape/Hardscape Inspector to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time position focused on a significant Roads and Highway project, requiring a professional with 5-10 years of relevant experience in infrastructure development.

Role Purpose and Context

The Landscape/Hardscape Inspector is responsible for the on-site supervision of all works related to soft and hard landscaping elements within the infrastructure project. The primary objective is to ensure that all executed works adhere to the highest standards of quality and compliance. This role demands thorough knowledge of Middle East region trees, plant and shrub species, planting and horticulture maintenance practices, irrigation systems, and various softscape and hardscape features.

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee and ensure the performance of Contractor’s works for strict compliance with approved plans, drawings, specifications, and the health, safety, and environmental plan.
  • Maintain a detailed diary documenting daily work activities, issues, approved or rejected works, hours of operation, and resources utilized (labour and equipment).
  • Process the Contractor’s inspection requests and maintain accurate records of their status.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of completed works for interim and final payment certifications, as well as for as-built drawings.
  • Coordinate daily with the Contractor’s site engineer or foreman on site to inspect the execution of works, ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Report any questionable methods of operation or workmanship by the Contractor, or any failure to conform to plans and specifications, to the Assistant Resident Engineer or Resident Engineer.
  • Notify the Reporting Manager of any conditions that render it impractical or unreasonable to enforce the project specifications.
  • Coordinate with Surveyors to verify the line and grade of completed work for conformance with the approved plans and specifications.
  • Interface with stakeholders and the public, particularly residents and business owners adjacent to the work area, to mitigate construction impacts.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Agriculture Science/Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of post-contract supervision roles and responsibilities, specifically related to construction and site inspection procedures.

Essential Skills and Competencies

  • Technical skills including CAD drafting, spreadsheet management, reporting, document processing, engineering support, and KPI analysis.
  • Strong people management capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders through clear communication and multidisciplinary coordination.

This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, supporting a critical roads and highway infrastructure project.
