DAR Engineering, a leading design and engineering consulting organization in Saudi Arabia, is seeking an experienced Senior Planning Engineer. This full-time position is based in Riyadh and is crucial for leading the planning and scheduling of design projects within the company's Planning & Project Controls (PMO) Department.

Role Purpose and Context

The Senior Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining integrated design programs, tracking progress across various design disciplines, and providing project and PMO leadership with timely visibility into project status. The role requires a combination of design engineering background and strong planning expertise, with an understanding of how design deliverables, disciplines, and client reviews interact to create realistic and well-controlled schedules. The position reports directly to the Planning Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, baseline, and maintain integrated design schedules for engineering and design projects, covering all disciplines from concept through detailed design and tender documentation.
• Break down design scope into work packages, deliverables, and milestones, linking them to a clear work breakdown structure.
• Plan and forecast resource and man-hour requirements with discipline leads, and track resource loading against the program.
• Monitor actual progress against the baseline, analyze variances and the critical path, and recommend recovery actions for delays.
• Coordinate with project managers, design discipline leads, sub-consultants, and clients to collect progress inputs and align interdependencies, including review and approval periods.
• Assess the schedule impact of design changes, client instructions, and scope variations, and support the preparation of related time-impact records.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and presentations for project teams, management, and clients.
• Provide early warning of schedule risks and delays to project managers and the PMO.
• Support the PMO in standardizing planning procedures, templates, and reporting across engineering and design projects, and contribute to portfolio-level reporting.
• Maintain the integrity of schedule data, including baselines, updates, and archived versions.
• Mentor junior planners and share good planning practices across the team.
• Capture lessons learned and contribute to the continuous improvement of planning and scheduling processes.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in planning and scheduling, preferably within a design engineering environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in developing and maintaining integrated design schedules.
• Strong understanding of design deliverables, discipline interactions, and client review processes.
• Proficiency in relevant planning and scheduling software.
• Ability to analyze variances, critical paths, and recommend recovery actions.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills for interacting with project teams, clients, and sub-consultants.
