About BAE Systems Saudi Arabia and the Role

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia serves as the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor, providing equipment, support, and training to Saudi Arabia under existing Government-to-Government arrangements. The company is dedicated to maintaining Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and training RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel in the safe use of their aircraft, equipment, and weapons. This commitment extends to supporting the Saudi Arabian National Agenda, including Saudisation and the development of Saudi National capability through partnerships and industrialisation initiatives. We are seeking a full-time Egress Maintenance Technician to join our team in Al Majma'ah, offering a competitive salary.

Role Overview and Core Responsibilities

The Egress Maintenance Technician performs critical aircraft maintenance, component servicing, and Bay support activities specifically for the T-21 Aircraft Egress Systems. This role involves providing On the Job Training (OJT) and conducting Production Inspections to ensure operational readiness and safety. Key tasks include comprehensive troubleshooting, inspecting, removing-installing, repairing, modifying, and operating all Egress-related aircraft systems, components, and associated support and test equipment.

Key Duties and Technical Accountabilities

  • Maintain good engineering practice and ensure compliance with RSAF Technical Orders within the Egress Maintenance Shop.
  • Prepare items for calibration within the designated work area.
  • Execute Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs) and Special inspections as directed.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of Aircraft Safety devices and Aircraft operating areas.
  • Ensure strict compliance with tool control procedures and the KFAA SAFO program.
  • Support deployments to other bases within and outside KSA when required, including preparing necessary equipment.
  • Act as a Maintenance Inspection and Investigation Program (MIIP) representative for aircraft or ground support technical issues.
  • Provide technical activities supporting the KFAA mission statement and aircraft servicing programmes, including workshop support equipment servicing, fault troubleshooting/rectification, modifications, and inspections/evaluations of components/test/support equipment at the Intermediate level.
  • Offer technical specialty support in evaluating, interpreting, and determining corrective actions, performance, and operational status of specialty-specific aircraft systems, components, and test-support equipment at the Intermediate level.
  • Deliver informal and formal On the Job Training (OJT) to both RSAF and BAE Systems Saudi National personnel to facilitate Saudisation of PC21 Intermediate Maintenance operations.
  • Obtain and maintain required certifications to support specialty and aircraft maintenance functions.
  • Acquire user expertise and proficiency with the RSAF aircraft data management and tracking computer system, MIRO Gold.
  • Understand and comply with the RSAF Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and Safety Programme.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience and meet the following essential criteria:

  • A recognised qualification at NVQ3/ONC/OND/BTEC level in a relevant technical discipline, a technical apprenticeship, or an equivalent technical qualification acceptable to M&CA.
  • Demonstrated experience in aircraft maintenance and engineering.
  • Substantial post-qualification practical maintenance experience within an operational flying aircraft environment, supported by formal recorded workplace applied related training; OR on the same aircraft type; OR successful completion of a BAESSA apprenticeship programme (SNTTP/TSNTTP).
  • Completion of PC21 Aircraft Systems Training courses or similar appropriate to specialties.
  • Sound oral and written two-way communication skills, with the ability to be tactful, discreet, and confident when interacting with individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to work effectively in a mixed expatriate and Saudi National workforce.
  • Understanding and application of human factors, error management, health & safety, and proactive hazard analysis, appropriate to the role.
  • The successful candidate, whether Saudi or Expatriate, must obtain Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) membership at the appropriate level prior to commencing employment in KSA and maintain it throughout their employment in this role.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

  • A sound understanding of the RSAF 4-1-7166 series and supporting technical publications applicable to the work area.
  • An understanding of RSAF Operation and working practices.
  • Working knowledge of Q-pulse, DMS, and an understanding of M&CA processes.
  • Ability to work on own initiative to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Computer literate with a sound understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite.
