GL Accountant

About the Role

SPARK Logistics is seeking a GL Accountant to join its Finance team in Abqaiq, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is for professionals with 2-5 years of experience in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and account reconciliations. The role is central to maintaining the integrity and accuracy of financial operations.

Role Overview

The GL Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the General Ledger through precise recording, review, and reconciliation of financial transactions, adhering strictly to company policies. This position supports critical month-end and year-end closing activities, performs balance sheet reconciliations, and contributes to the preparation of timely and accurate financial information for management reporting, audits, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and post journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, provisions, reclassifications, and adjustments, ensuring proper supporting documentation.
• Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations for bank, AP, AR, inventory, fixed assets, accruals, and prepayments, resolving reconciling items promptly.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet schedules and supporting analyses for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
• Support timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes in accordance with the closing calendar.
• Assist with operational accounting activities, including AP, AR, inventory, fixed asset transactions, and sub-ledger to GL reconciliations.
• Maintain the fixed asset register, encompassing additions, disposals, transfers, and monthly depreciation calculations.
• Prepare cost allocation reports within cost and activity centers.
• Assist in preparing financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.
• Support VAT and Withholding Tax (WHT) accounting and reconciliations in line with ZATCA requirements.
• Prepare audit schedules and respond to queries from internal and external auditors.
• Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and internal controls, and recommend process improvements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications and Experience

• 2-5 years of hands-on experience in general ledger accounting.
• Demonstrated experience in financial reporting and account reconciliations.
• Proficiency in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of financial records.
