About the Role

ACWA Power is seeking a Plant General Manager for a full-time position in Bishah. This role provides overall direction to plant teams and leads all activities within the plant. The primary objective is to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operations of the plant, optimize resource utilization, and deliver an uninterrupted energy supply in accordance with defined standards. This position is critical for fulfilling all contractual obligations and maximizing revenue.

Strategic Planning and Financial Management

• Develop the plant strategy in line with ACWA NOMAC’s Operations and Maintenance strategy, ensuring vertical alignment and horizontal integration.
• Report regularly to the VP / Country Manager on operational and maintenance activities, challenges, and mitigations.
• Prepare board presentations that include financial figures, plant warranty issues, and operational and manpower issues.
• Develop the Plant’s Operating budget and manage and monitor financial performance against it regularly.
• Identify and rectify areas of unsatisfactory performance promptly and capitalize on potential performance improvement opportunities.
• Understand the financial metrics, costs, and contractual obligations of the project to ensure the achievement of revenue, cost, profitability, and productivity targets.
• Direct and provide guidance on the preparation of periodical statements and progress reports to keep senior management informed and facilitate decision-making.

Operational Excellence and Technical Leadership

• Lead and ensure the effective cascading of the operational strategy and plans into mid to short-term production plans.
• Monitor performance against targets to ensure optimization of resource utilization, plant availability, and operating efficiency, while achieving defined production targets.
• Provide overall direction to plant operations and maintenance teams to meet approved production objectives.
• Offer technical guidance and expertise to ensure timely resolution of issues and recommend changes to approved procedures, considering technological developments and changing business conditions.
• Plan and direct minor and major changes within the plant and its respective processes to ensure a safe working environment while maintaining plant efficiency levels.
• Have a thorough understanding of the contractual obligations and clauses with the Project Company and ensure continuous compliance.
• Direct the teams on operations and maintenance strategies and oversee root cause analysis and investigations to correct abnormal conditions and resolve performance deficiencies.
• Provide guidance to direct subordinates on potential risk areas to improve the long-term reliability of the plant.

Systems, Compliance, and Supply Chain Management

• Oversee and manage the identification process of required inventory.
• Approve all purchase requisitions / purchase orders for material, spare parts, services, chemicals, equipment, and required manpower, as per the authority matrix.
• Oversee the work executed by contractors to ensure timely completion of work whilst complying with scope, materials specification, method of application, HSSE, and documentation guidelines.
• Provide overall guidance and ensure the effective implementation of SAP processes within the plants.
• Ensure adherence to SAP guidelines in all aspects of production planning, scheduling, order processing, and material movement to ensure system/data integrity.
• Identify, establish, and monitor IMS objectives, targets, and programs in the plant.
• Adapt and implement policies and procedures and prepare for appropriate IMS Certifications to ensure compliance with applicable Standards.
• Oversee and provide all possible assistance during IMS audits and work on recommendations to effectively implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, security, and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls across the plant.
• Guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, and a responsible environmental attitude.
• Develop and ensure the implementation of policies, procedures, and controls covering all areas of plant activity.
• Fulfill all relevant procedural/legislative requirements while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.

People Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement

• Develop and maintain effective business relationships with all relevant internal and external entities (such as Project Company, Board, shareholders, OEM contractors, local authorities) with the highest standards of business ethics.
• Promptly attend to all critical issues to ensure seamless business operations.
• Manage and monitor the performance of direct and indirect reports, defining workforce requirements and recruiting in conjunction with the People & Culture function.
• Manage the effective achievement of the team’s objectives through setting individual objectives, developing the team, and providing formal and informal feedback.
• Manage and provide overall direction and guidance on talent development initiatives to mentor, coach, and challenge subordinates, providing opportunities for growth and development.
• Oversee the implementation of effective and economical methods and techniques to identify improvements and/or new technological changes to advance operating methods within the plant.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to organizational and departmental change initiatives, programs, and projects.
• Perform any other duties which the line manager may require to be carried out.
