Role Overview

The Senior Clinical Specialist is responsible and accountable for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of specialized care for a specific patient population. This full-time position, located in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, also involves participation in research initiatives and staff education and development. Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Obtain clinical histories, conduct physical examinations, and acquire tests related to the area of specialization. Develop, implement, and evaluate patient's plan of care.
• Make diagnostic decisions based on interpretations and evaluations of patient data, test results, and symptoms.
• Perform investigations and provide treatments and therapies based on specialty.
• Counsel and advise patients on issues related to the specialist area.
• Perform clinical responsibilities within related specialties such as Nursing, Laboratory, Respiratory, or Pharmacy, as assigned.
• Hold Nurse-led outpatient clinics.
• Collaborate with physicians regarding diagnostics and treatment options.
• Review evidence-based medicine protocols to guide treatment choice and standards of patient care, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
• Participate in the promotion and maintenance of effective communication and teamwork, treating colleagues, patients, and visitors with dignity and respect.
• Contribute to staff retention to meet area-specific turnover rate goals, actively welcoming new staff/students and participating in retention activities.
• Promote a safe environment and safe patient care by embracing a safety culture and identifying areas of risk to the supervisor. Comply with policies for personal and patient safety and for the prevention of healthcare-associated infections.
• Report equipment failures, safety and security issues, and/or reduction of supply inventory to the supervisor.
• Contribute to the achievement of cost efficiency savings in the assigned area, maintaining awareness of resource utilization and exercising care in ordering and using equipment and materials.
• Assist in promoting and sharing knowledge via mentorship in line with relevant research and evidence-based practice.
• Participate in patient education programs.
• Follow all Hospital-related policies and procedures.
• Participate in self and other’s education, training, and development, as applicable.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
