About the Senior Data Science - Integrity Role

Salla is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join the Integrity & Trust team in Jeddah, Makkah Province. This full-time position focuses on developing AI-driven systems to protect millions of buyers and sellers by detecting fraud, counterfeit products, and maintaining marketplace quality. In the high-COD (Cash on Delivery) environment of MENA, where trust is paramount, your work will directly impact platform growth and reputation.

Core Responsibilities

• Build and deploy supervised and unsupervised machine learning models for policy violation, counterfeit, and fraud detection.
• Contribute to the growth of the Integrity, Safety & Trust pod, mentor applied data scientists, and deliver projects with measurable business outcomes.
• Design feature pipelines utilizing product text, images, seller behavior, and transaction data.
• Apply Natural Language Processing (NLP) models for text classification, entity extraction, and multi-lingual moderation (Arabic and English).
• Utilize multimodal architectures (*, CLIP, ViT + BERT) for image-text cross-validation.
• Develop graph-based and anomaly detection models to identify coordinated or suspicious merchant activity.
• Collaborate with product, legal, and operations teams to define integrity policies and feedback loops.
• Implement dashboards and monitoring systems for real-time detection and escalation using tools like Elastic and Grafana.
• Optimize model precision and recall trade-offs based on enforcement and user experience objectives.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in applied machine learning, with at least 2 years focused on Trust & Safety, Integrity, or Fraud Detection systems.
• Experience with multi-modal text-image modeling (*, OCR, CLIP/ViT, layout analysis), taxonomy or attribute extraction, policy classification, and Arabic/English content moderation.
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and ML libraries including PyTorch, Transformers, Scikit-learn, and OpenCV.
• Experience developing streaming or near-real-time detection systems (*, Kafka, Redis Streams).
• Familiarity with graph learning, anomaly detection, and multi-modal data pipelines.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Knowledge of e-commerce ecosystems, product policy enforcement, and counterfeit or low-quality detection is considered a plus.

Candidates should possess excellent analytical reasoning, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. The ability to balance enforcement precision with business impact is essential.
