About the Role

Salla is seeking a Staff Analytics Engineer - Product Data Instrumentation to take ownership of event instrumentation and behavioral data. This senior individual-contributor role involves managing Salla's event taxonomy, tracking plans, schemas, and identity model, alongside ensuring their trustworthiness through validation. The successful candidate will integrate into the engineering development lifecycle, collaborating with Product teams to ensure every behavioral metric is deliberately designed, documented, and monitored.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the design, development, and maintenance of data models and transformation pipelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand data needs and build scalable solutions.
• Ensure data quality and consistency through rigorous testing, validation, and monitoring practices.
• Proactively identify and resolve data issues.
• Maintain and document the data warehouse structure, data dictionary, and lineage.
• Define and enforce data modeling best practices.
• Partner with analytics and business teams to optimize self-serve access to reliable metrics and insights.
• Improve developer experience across the data stack by automating workflows and simplifying data discovery.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, product analytics infrastructure, or software engineering. This includes at least 3 years directly owning event instrumentation and tracking.
• Proven track record in designing an event taxonomy and tracking plan from inception, and successfully driving adoption across engineering teams.
• Hands-on experience with event collection or Customer Data Platform (CDP) platforms such as Segment or Jitsu, and product analytics platforms like Amplitude, Mixpanel, PostHog, or GA4.

Technical Skills

• Strong software engineering fundamentals, with production fluency in at least one of TypeScript/JavaScript, Kotlin, Swift, PHP, Go, or Python, sufficient for reviewing engineering tracking pull requests.
• Expert SQL proficiency and hands-on experience with dbt, including modeling high-volume event data in columnar warehouses such as ClickHouse, BigQuery, or Snowflake.
• Working knowledge of streaming architecture (*, Kafka), including delivery semantics, idempotency, deduplication, and handling late-arriving data.
• Experience with server-side tagging, consent management, and privacy regulations.
