About the Role

Tractebel is seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Inspector (Pumping & Irrigation) to join our team. This full-time role is based in the Makkah region, covering projects in Jeddah and Makkah. The Mechanical Inspector will be responsible for overseeing mechanical installations, pumping systems, and irrigation networks, ensuring adherence to project specifications and quality standards.

Role Purpose and Scope

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that all mechanical works, including equipment installation, pressure testing, and commissioning support, comply with approved drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and safety protocols. The role involves meticulous inspection activities and diligent follow-up to maintain project timelines and quality benchmarks through to handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect the installation of pumps, valves, pipes, supports, irrigation networks, mechanical equipment, and related infrastructure elements.
• Verify mechanical works against approved drawings, specifications, method statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality requirements, and safety standards.
• Review inspection requests, material delivery records, equipment datasheets, checklists, testing records, and as-built information.
• Identify installation defects, non-compliant works, equipment issues, and unsafe conditions, and follow up on corrective actions with contractors.
• Support pressure testing, pump testing, functional verification, commissioning checks, snagging, and handover activities.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) teams, and commissioning teams during inspections and close-out activities.
• Prepare daily inspection reports, site observations, punch lists, and progress updates.
• Support project close-out by verifying the completion of inspection records, testing documentation, and handover submissions.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven work experience of at least 5 years in mechanical inspection for pumping stations, irrigation systems, and infrastructure projects.
• Good knowledge of pump installation, irrigation networks, valves, piping, supports, mechanical equipment, pressure testing, and commissioning activities.
• Ability to inspect works in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and safety requirements.
• Strong site observation and documentation skills, with the ability to identify defects and follow up on corrective actions.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills for effective interaction with engineers, contractors, QA/QC teams, and commissioning teams.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position with Tractebel, primarily involving site-based inspection activities within the Makkah region, including projects in Jeddah and Makkah. The role requires active collaboration with various project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
