Overview of the Reservations Clerk Role
Marriott International is seeking a Clerk Reservations to join its team in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time, non-management position focused on efficiently processing guest room reservations and providing professional service. The role is integral to supporting guest accommodation needs and contributing to overall property operations.
Core Reservation Management
- Process all room reservations, requests, changes, and cancellations received through various channels, including phone, fax, or mail.
- Identify guest reservation needs and accurately determine the appropriate room type.
- Verify room type and rate availability within the reservation system.
- Clearly explain guarantee, special rate, and cancellation policies to callers.
- Handle and document special requests from guests.
- Answer questions regarding property facilities, services, and room accommodations.
- Utilize sales techniques to maximize revenue opportunities.
- Accurately enter and access data within the reservation system.
- Input special room reservation types, such as complimentary rooms, employee discounts, travel agency inspection rates, and wholesale reservations, using correct codes and rates.
Guest Engagement and Service Excellence
- Follow established escalation procedures when addressing guest concerns.
- Greet and acknowledge all guests according to company standards.
- Anticipate and proactively address guest service needs.
- Express genuine appreciation to guests for their patronage.
- Provide assistance to persons with disabilities as required.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with guests and colleagues.
- Answer telephones using appropriate professional protocol.
Professional Conduct and Team Collaboration
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance.
- Ensure the confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Protect company assets and safeguard the privacy and security of guests and colleagues.
- Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues.
- Support the team in achieving common objectives and goals.
- Listen and respond appropriately to concerns from other employees.
- Adhere to quality assurance expectations and standards in all tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Education: A High School Diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) certificate is required.
- Related Work Experience: No related work experience is required for this position.
- Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience is required.
- License or Certification: None specified.
Workplace Standards and Physical Demands
The role requires adherence to all company standards and expectations. Physically, the ability to safely move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 10 pounds or less without assistance is necessary. The Reservations Clerk will also perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors to support operational needs.
