About the Role

Modern Mills Company is seeking a Manager Purchasing to lead strategic sourcing, procurement, and supply continuity for a range of materials. This full-time position, based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, focuses on securing food ingredients, additives, vitamins, premixes, enzymes, packaging components, and other assigned direct and indirect materials. The role supports ongoing operations, new product development, and business growth by ensuring material availability, competitive terms, and compliance with quality, food safety, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies and category plans for food ingredients, additives, vitamins, premixes, enzymes, and packaging components, aligning with operational and product development priorities.
  • Analyze market trends, supplier capacity, commodity movements, and supply risks to inform purchasing decisions and identify local and international sourcing opportunities that enhance cost, quality, availability, and lead times.
  • Manage the end-to-end purchasing process, including requests for quotation, bid evaluation, negotiation, purchase orders, and supplier follow-up, ensuring materials are procured according to approved specifications, budgets, and delivery schedules.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Production, and Warehouse teams to maintain appropriate material availability and inventory levels, and resolve supply shortages, delayed deliveries, quality concerns, and commercial disputes.
  • Partner with Research and Development, Quality, Marketing, and Operations to source materials for new products, coordinate material trials and sample requests, and ensure launch timelines are met.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable local and international suppliers, leading commercial negotiations covering prices, payment terms, lead times, and contractual conditions.
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews based on quality, cost, delivery, and service; develop corrective action plans for underperforming suppliers and secure alternative sources for critical materials.
  • Deliver measurable cost savings through negotiation, competitive bidding, demand consolidation, and alternative sourcing, while reviewing total cost of ownership including freight, customs, storage, and payment terms.
  • Develop dual-sourcing, local-sourcing, and contingency plans for critical items, and monitor geopolitical, logistical, regulatory, and commodity-related risks affecting supply.
  • Ensure procured materials comply with approved technical specifications, food safety standards, and Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) requirements, and maintain supplier documentation including certificates of analysis, technical data sheets, and relevant certifications.
  • Negotiate and manage supplier agreements in coordination with Legal, ensuring compliance with procurement policies, the authority matrix, and ethical standards.
  • Lead, coach, and develop purchasing team members, setting individual objectives and building team capability in negotiation, supplier management, and strategic sourcing.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in purchasing, procurement, or strategic sourcing, including 2–3 years in a managerial or team leadership position.
  • Relevant experience within food manufacturing, FMCG, milling, bakery products, animal nutrition, or a related manufacturing environment.

Experience and Skills

  • Demonstrated experience sourcing food ingredients, additives, vitamins, enzymes, premixes, or packaging materials.
  • Experience supporting new product development and supplier qualification is strongly preferred.
  • Proven capability in local and international sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier management.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and regulatory compliance requirements, including SFDA standards.
  • Proficiency in ERP procurement systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Work Environment and Location

This is a full-time position located in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The role requires collaboration across various internal departments and with a network of local and international suppliers.
