Principal AI Engineer

About the Role

Standard Chartered is seeking a Principal AI Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of AI solutions and services. This permanent position requires a professional with over 10 years of experience. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams and integrating various data sources to solve business problems within the banking sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of AI services, ensuring they meet banking industry requirements.
• Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and business analysts to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Utilize technologies such as traditional OCR, non-traditional OCR (VLM), RAG, and agentic AI to build business support solutions.
• Integrate multiple bank data sources, including transaction records, customer information, and regulatory documents, to support document processing and AI services.
• Continuously optimize AI solutions for scalability to handle increasing volumes of documents and data.
• Ensure the reliability of AI solutions through robust error-handling mechanisms and regular system testing.
• Improve the efficiency of document processing and AI services by fine-tuning algorithms, reducing processing time, and minimizing resource consumption.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members.
• Participate in team meetings, sharing knowledge and best practices in AI and document processing.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in AI engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying AI solutions.
• Familiarity with cutting-edge technologies including OCR, VLM, RAG, and agentic AI.
• Experience with data integration from various sources.
