About International Maritime Industries

International Maritime Industries is seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist to join their team. This full-time role is essential for ensuring that all import and export activities adhere to both international and Saudi regulations. The specialist will play a key role in managing customs clearance processes and optimizing the performance of customs brokers.

Role Overview

The Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for the oversight of import/export compliance, managing the custom clearance contract, and monitoring the performance of the custom broker. This position requires a proactive approach to regulatory adherence and efficient coordination with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and compliant material flow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to IMI policies and safety standards.
  • Study import material requirements based on HS code, commodity type, and international/Saudi regulations, and update the purchasing team accordingly.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all applicable international and Saudi regulations to ensure material import requirements align with the latest standards.
  • Collaborate with the purchasing team to manage the flow of required documents for customs clearance.
  • Receive, verify, and process customs clearance invoices within the ERP system.
  • Manage customs clearance operations, including sending necessary documents to the customs broker and following up to ensure on-time clearance.
  • Manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the customs broker and report any failures in performance.
  • Manage and update required information in the SABER system.
  • Arrange for SASO certificates and process them in the SABER system.
  • Manage import duty exemptions, including timely application to ensure exemptions are granted prior to material arrival.
  • Coordinate with the logistics team for material loading from ports/airports by sharing the customer operation plan and providing updates on customs clearance.
  • Liaise with the finance department for timely payment of import material taxation.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess 3-6 years of relevant experience in trade compliance, customs operations, or a similar field. A strong understanding of international and Saudi import/export regulations is required.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in managing customs clearance processes.
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems and regulatory platforms like SABER.
  • Effective communication and coordination abilities with internal teams and external partners.
