Role Overview: Field Operator FOMC

ENGIE Saudi Arabia is seeking a Field Operator FOMC with 2-5 years of experience for a full-time position. This role is responsible for local plant operations, ensuring the plant meets required availability, reliability, efficiency, generation, and cost targets, while adhering to safety and environmental standards. The Field Operator will manage equipment start-ups, shutdowns, changeovers, routine monitoring, and respond to alarms and emergencies. The position requires a detailed understanding and practical experience with technologies found in modern Combined Cycle Gas Turbine plants, Desalination plants, and various auxiliary equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all operational activities in line with safety and environmental management systems.
  • Execute duties as a Designated Person and other tasks in accordance with safety rules.
  • Monitor ongoing maintenance jobs in assigned areas and report unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Conduct routine plant checks, including round-ups and log sheet completion.
  • Perform operational actions as directed by the Control Room Engineer (CRE) to prevent or correct abnormal plant operations.
  • Prepare the plant for start-ups, perform shutdowns, and execute preservation routines according to operational procedures.
  • Implement manual intervention actions during trip conditions and supervise plant rundown.
  • Apply safety rules for plant isolations to facilitate maintenance and safely restore equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as lube oil top-ups, and assist maintenance personnel in defect identification.
  • Support the CRE during emergency situations and carry out sample analysis for plant process water cycles when a Chemist is unavailable.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of various plant systems and equipment.
  • Manage plant chemicals, including tank changeovers and ensuring sufficient chemical levels.
  • Ensure the export quality of potable water meets WHO guidelines and PWPA standards.
  • Follow all relevant operational procedures and instructions.

Required Technical Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated understanding of Health, Safety, and Environment Management procedures and systems.
  • Ability to understand and apply Operating Instructions and Procedures relevant to a Field Engineer.
  • Practical understanding of the working principles of Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, HRSG, Desalination plants, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Proficiency in safe and efficient local operation of plant systems.
  • Capability to monitor plant performance locally across varying load conditions.
  • Experience with plant start-up and shutdown procedures.
  • Skill in diagnosing plant faults and recording defects using SAP.
  • Awareness of efficient plant operation for high commercial availability within environmental limits.
  • Effective liaison with the Control Room Engineer on operational issues.
  • Ability to conduct safe local plant isolations and support incident response.
  • Competence in routine operating and maintenance activities such as oil changes and filter cleaning.
  • Commercial awareness of PWPA and O&M.
