Role Overview

Seara International is seeking a Health Safety Environment Officer to join their team in Dammam, Eastern, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position requires 2-5 years of experience in a relevant field.

Role Purpose and Context

The HSE Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety and environmental strategies. This role requires a specific understanding of food safety interfaces, such as HACCP, chemical handling for sanitation, and high-speed packaging machinery, differentiating it from general construction or heavy industry HSE roles.

Core Responsibilities

• Occupational Health & Safety: Conduct regular Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for production lines, focusing on lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and ergonomics. Lead root-cause analysis (RCA) for near-misses or accidents and implement corrective actions. Design and deliver safety induction programs for new hires and specialized training for existing staff.
• Food Safety & Hygiene Integration: Ensure that HSE protocols do not compromise food safety standards, including ensuring PPE is food-grade and does not pose a physical contaminant risk. Oversee the safe storage and handling of Clean-In-Place (CIP) chemicals and refrigerants such as Ammonia or CO₂.
• Environmental & Sustainability: Manage the disposal of organic waste, packaging materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with local environmental regulations. Monitor water usage and wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) efficiency to meet sustainability targets.

Compliance and Auditing

• Act as the primary point of contact for government bodies, such as the Saudi Food and Drug Authority or Modon, regarding safety and environmental permits.
• Conduct regular site walkthroughs and formal audits to ensure 100% compliance with ISO 45001 (Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environment).

Required Experience

Candidates must have 2-5 years of experience in a Health Safety Environment role, demonstrating proficiency in the areas outlined above.
