The Role of Commercial Director

Turner & Townsend is seeking a Commercial Director Major Programmes to join its infrastructure team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time leadership position involves providing strategic direction and oversight for major programmes, with a primary focus on post-contract delivery and ensuring commercial success. The role also requires embedding and promoting the company's values within the team and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the principal point of contact for cost management matters and lead the Turner & Townsend team.
• Lead and motivate team members, providing direction and inspiring high performance.
• Undertake key account roles, ensure project execution assurance, and maintain client relationships.
• Deliver assurance services to projects, including peer reviews, gateway reviews, maturity assessments, readiness reviews, and performance audits.
• Periodically assume major program delivery roles, leading the Turner & Townsend team on commissions to achieve successful delivery and manage transitions.
• Provide oversight and assurance for Turner & Townsend's major programs within the region.
• Identify organizational needs, develop recruitment plans, and define role specifications.
• Contribute to infrastructure business development activities and assist in marketing strategy implementation.
• Provide client solutions and collaborate with business development teams on sales proposals and presentations.
• Coordinate with project team leaders on project negotiations and execution.
• Collaborate with other business divisions and teams.
• Ensure high-quality service delivery by utilizing company systems, policies, and procedures, managing time, and organizing work effectively.
• Demonstrate understanding of commercial business drivers and align work and projects accordingly, contributing to business opportunity development.
• Take responsibility for Business Unit performance and project Profit & Loss.
• Identify areas for opportunity and development to enable continued growth within the market.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be an agile and emotionally intelligent leader with a strong track record in the technical delivery of major programmes. International and cross-sector experience, along with the ability to work effectively in multi-cultural environments, is considered beneficial. The role requires operating at a senior level and comfort in presenting to large groups and senior-level client bases.

Required Experience and Expertise

• Over 10 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Demonstrated expertise as a cost management generalist, covering estimating, cost control, scheduling, risk management, change management, performance measurement, and reporting.
• Proven expertise in major delivery programmes.
• A developer of talent, with an interest in coaching early to mid-career cost management staff.

Working Environment

This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, specifically in the Middle Oraija District. The role involves working with remote staff across global time zones and requires strong organizational and administrative capabilities.
