About the Construction Engineer (EXPO) Role

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a Construction Engineer (EXPO) to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves providing essential construction support, focusing on work planning, material management, and quality assurance. The role contributes to ensuring all construction activities are executed safely, completed to specifications, and conform to established quality standards and project requirements.

Core Responsibilities

• Assist construction supervision in planning construction methods and procedures.
• Coordinate engineering and construction issues with the Senior Construction Engineer and/or Construction Manager.
• Identify and report construction quality, safety, and schedule issues to the responsible Construction Manager.
• Monitor site activities to ensure work is performed safely and compliantly.
• Interpret design engineering drawings and verify contractor compliance with issued drawings, including temporary facilities and field sketches for revisions, and prepare "as-built" drawings.
• Review design drawings, analyze interference problems, and examine related vendor drawings and installation instructions.
• Review estimated quantities and material takeoffs for field purchases submitted by the contractor, reporting discrepancies to the supervisor.
• Assist in coordinating vendor material deliveries, material storage, expediting, and engineering reports related to the project schedule.
• Track and ensure projections and schedules for manpower, material, and equipment requirements are met.
• Review and manage field change notices, extra work orders, and back charge notices.
• Attend daily and weekly coordination and progress meetings with the Contractor.
• Collaborate on and compile daily reports for submission to the Senior Construction Engineer and Construction Manager.
• Review Method Statements and safety submittals for Safe Systems of Work procedures.
• Assist the Senior Construction Engineer/Construction Manager with interface and stakeholder management.
• Maintain a zero-accident policy on site with the contractor through regular participation in and audit of client health and safety programs.
• Monitor the installation of materials and equipment to ensure conformance with drawings and specifications.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or an international equivalent.
• Minimum of 5-8 years of relevant experience in construction engineering.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

• Basic understanding of contract administration, including preparing correspondence, analyzing claims, and construction negotiation.
• Knowledge of subcontract use and the responsibilities of contractors/subcontractors as defined in subcontract documents.
• Experience in delivering civil infrastructure projects, specifically involving earthworks, installation of underground utilities, structures associated with underground utilities, and road construction.
• Ability to communicate effectively (both spoken and written) in English.
