Consultant Pediatric Emergency

About the Role

National Medical Care Company (Care) is seeking a Consultant Pediatric Emergency to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position requires 5-10 years of experience and involves providing comprehensive care to patients while maintaining high professional standards. The Consultant will play a key leadership role in the department, ensuring quality medical treatment and adherence to established regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide patient care within the scope of clinical privileges, adhering to professional medical ethics and standards such as CBAHI/JCIA, hospital by-laws, and Ministry of Health regulations.
• Ensure a high quality of medical treatment, compassion, and understanding for every patient.
• Participate in the development and maintenance of medical contingency disaster plans.
• Supervise the triage system performed by Emergency Room Nurses and oversee the performance of ER physicians.
• Organize and supervise the duty rota for ER physicians.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures relevant to the specialty.
• Assess and refer patients to appropriate medical facilities and accept referrals in the field of specialty.
• Participate in the departmental on-call rota for patient care.
• Uphold patient rights regarding security, confidentiality, and privacy.
• Respond to emergencies, offering advice and active participation as required.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and legible patient medical records.
• Provide leadership for performance improvement functions, including measurement, assessment, and improvement of clinical and non-clinical processes.
• Actively participate in Continued Medical Education (CME) through hospital activities and national/international meetings.
• Engage in training programs for junior medical staff, nursing staff, and technicians.
• Continuously update medical knowledge and upgrade professional skills.
• Participate in assigned committee meetings (*, Quality Improvement, Infection Control).
• Educate patients and families regarding their care needs, involving them in the plan of care and respecting their choices.
• Perform other applicable tasks and duties as assigned within the scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Reporting Structure

The Consultant Pediatric Emergency reports directly to the Head of Department. This role involves supervising all ER Physicians and departmental staff. Key liaisons include consultants within the specialty and other departments, the Quality Department, nursing staff, other healthcare professionals, and patients and their families.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience is required.
• Demonstrated ability to practice within clinically relevant and scientifically valid standards, guidelines, and criteria.
• Strong understanding and adherence to hospital by-laws, rules, and regulations.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and active participation in educational activities.
