QHSE Officer

About the Role

Swissport KSA is seeking a QHSE Officer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is responsible for monitoring, implementing, and maintaining Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental standards across Swissport's airport ground handling operations. The QHSE Officer ensures compliance with corporate policies, Saudi Arabian regulations, GACA requirements, and international aviation safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor compliance with Swissport safety policies, operational procedures, and airport safety regulations.
• Conduct regular safety inspections across various operational areas including ramp, passenger services, baggage handling, and cargo.
• Identify unsafe acts, hazardous conditions, and operational risks, recommending corrective actions.
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS).
• Ensure compliance with GACA requirements, airport authority regulations, and Swissport Global Standards.
• Conduct scheduled and unannounced operational inspections and quality checks.
• Participate in investigations of incidents such as aircraft damage, ground support equipment incidents, and employee injuries.
• Collect evidence, interview personnel, and prepare investigation reports, supporting root cause analysis.
• Monitor occupational health and workplace safety practices, conducting inspections for potential hazards.
• Support emergency response preparedness, including evacuation drills and safety exercises.
• Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns, identifying training needs.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly QHSE inspection and performance reports.
• Maintain accurate records of safety observations, incidents, investigations, audits, and corrective actions.

Authority and Accountability

The QHSE Officer is authorized to report unsafe practices and non-compliance directly to QHSE management. This includes recommending immediate suspension of unsafe activities and initiating stop-work interventions where authorized by company procedures. The role involves requesting corrective actions from responsible operational departments and escalating serious safety risks or repeated violations to management. The QHSE Officer is accountable for the accuracy of QHSE reporting, timely escalation of significant risks, and professional performance of assigned duties.

Qualifications and Experience

• 2-5 years of experience in a relevant QHSE role.
• Demonstrated understanding of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
• Familiarity with aviation safety standards, GACA requirements, and applicable Saudi Arabian regulations.
• Experience in conducting inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
• Ability to support the implementation of Safety Management Systems (SMS).
