Senior Accountant

About the Role

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position requires professionals capable of operating with minimal supervision, working within established guidelines and procedures to prepare complex financial reports. The role contributes to achieving operational targets within the assigned functional area.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop financial statements, chart of accounts, financial position forecasts, and other management reports accurately and on time.
• Provide support to other functions regarding accounting and closing policies, efficient controls, and optimal utilization of financial resources.
• Assist functions with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes, offering necessary support and training.
• Address non-compliance cases identified through audits or General Court of Audit findings, implementing corrective measures to mitigate risks and prevent recurrence.
• Monitor the recording of transactions, journal entries, and postings to ledgers, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards.
• Review bank reconciliations for all bank accounts to ensure matching.
• Execute periodic (daily, monthly, quarterly, yearly) closing processes, communicate with internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies, and report non-compliant cases.
• Review periodic financial reports to ensure reported results comply with financial reporting standards.
• Adhere to all relevant policies, processes, and standard operating procedures to ensure consistent and controlled work execution.
• Assist in resolving escalated problems and provide necessary support to junior team members to ensure efficient workflow.
• Escalate complex problems to the appropriate personnel to ensure proper resolution of cases and issues.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Experience and Qualifications

Candidates for this Senior Accountant position should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience. The role requires individuals who can prepare more complex, specialized, or ad-hoc reports in their field and contribute to the completion of milestones or operational targets.
