Overview of the Associate Scientist Role

The Associate Scientist is a full-time position responsible for designing and conducting research projects with minimal supervision. This role involves significant contributions to the research unit through the development of new scientific or managerial capabilities and expertise. The successful candidate will also play a key role in scientific communication and the supervision of junior research staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute advanced independent or directed research to meet the objectives of Innovation & Research projects.
• Develop and implement new methodologies and technologies essential for project advancement.
• Prepare and contribute to the writing of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals and for presentations.
• Actively seek funding opportunities and prepare comprehensive grant applications.
• Present and discuss research data effectively in various meetings and scientific seminars.
• Provide training in research techniques and oversee the work of research technicians, trainees, and students.
• Assist in the general oversight of the laboratory, including managing supplies, maintaining equipment, and ordering necessary materials.
• Ensure strict adherence to all laboratory safety rules and regulations, as well as Hospital policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for the Associate Scientist position should possess 3 years of relevant experience and demonstrate a strong background in scientific research. Specific requirements include:

• Demonstrated scientific productivity during postdoctoral training, evidenced by publications as a first author in peer-reviewed journals. This must reflect significant technical and scientific contributions to the publications.
• A proven role as a co-investigator in at least two (2) fully ongoing research projects.
• A documented record of presenting original research data at least once at a national or international scientific meeting.
