Commercial Director

About the Role

SNC-Lavalin Fayez Engineering is seeking a Commercial Director to join their team in Riyadh, KSA. This full-time position requires a professional with over 10 years of experience. The Commercial Director will be responsible for leading and overseeing the commercial management of SNC-Lavalin Fayez Engineering's project portfolio within Saudi Arabia, ensuring projects align with contractual obligations, financial targets, and internal governance standards.

Role Overview

This strategic role demands a strong combination of commercial acumen, leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of engineering and consultancy services. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting project delivery and optimizing commercial outcomes across the company's operations in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret SNC-Lavalin Fayez Engineering's rights and responsibilities across its project portfolio in KSA.
• Support Project Directors in delivering projects according to contractual arrangements and achieving required commercial outcomes, including contracted profit margins and agreed financial objectives.
• Coordinate commercial appointments for services provided by all parties, including other business sectors and sub-consultants.
• Develop and manage commercial administration, monitoring, and change control systems in compliance with internal business processes, including risk and variation registers.
• Enhance commercial understanding and competence among Project Management and Design delivery staff in KSA.
• Support project-based commercial staff within the country's live projects.
• Escalate and report on claims made against professional indemnity insurance or similar circumstances.
• Conduct commercial reviews and audits of live projects in the country.
• Adhere to internal Business Management System (BMS) and other processes.
• Monitor compliance of the Service Delivery Process throughout the project delivery phase and respond to queries.
• Review monthly financial reports and actions related to the Risk Register and project contingency.
• Influence improved risk management to convert contingency to margin for live projects.
• Liaise with finance and project teams on debt management to convert debt provisions to P&L profit.
• Provide guidance to project teams to ensure consistent billing in line with contractual arrangements, maximizing positive cash flow.
• Promote behaviors that provide early warnings of risks to project financial health.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in commercial management.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in overseeing commercial aspects of projects.
• Strong commercial acumen and a deep understanding of engineering and consultancy services.

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, KSA, within a dynamic environment focused on delivering complex engineering and consultancy projects across Saudi Arabia.
