About the Role

Bupa Arabia is seeking a Consultant – Geriatrics to provide specialized geriatric care on a part-time, in-person basis in Riyadh. This role focuses on addressing the unique medical, functional, cognitive, and psychosocial needs of the geriatric population within a physical clinic setting. The consultant will evaluate, diagnose, and manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions, including those with multiple comorbidities, polypharmacy, frailty, and dementia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive, in-person geriatric care during scheduled part-time clinic sessions, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical evaluations, including history taking, physical examination, medication review, and geriatric assessment.
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based management plans, including medication optimization, preventive care, lifestyle interventions, and referrals.
  • Manage complex geriatric conditions such as multimorbidity, frailty, cognitive impairment, and polypharmacy, ensuring care continuity and coordination with the full-time clinical team.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, caregivers, and community services to provide integrated, patient-centered care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to support seamless handover and continuity of care.
  • Promote healthy aging through preventive care, chronic disease management, and population health principles within available clinic hours.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers, providing clear guidance on diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards, maintaining accurate and complete medical documentation.
  • Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based geriatric practice and in-clinic regulations through continuous professional development.
  • Contribute to clinical governance by participating in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits within part-time hours.

Professional Development and EHR Proficiency

  • Continuously enhance clinical knowledge in geriatric medicine and best practices through relevant conferences, workshops, and CME activities.
  • Integrate the latest clinical evidence into practice to improve the quality and effectiveness of patient care.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation in the EHR, adhering to organizational policies and data privacy regulations.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the clinic's EHR system for efficient and well-documented consultations.

Patient Safety and Collaboration

  • Uphold high standards of patient safety by delivering evidence-based care and adhering to established clinical safety protocols.
  • Identify, report, and escalate patient safety risks and incidents in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Counsel patients and caregivers on diagnoses, treatment plans, medication use, and follow-up care to support informed decision-making.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered consultations through effective communication, comprehensive assessment, and shared decision-making.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care and optimize clinical outcomes, maintaining continuity between part-time and full-time coverage.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to provide specialized geriatric care on a part-time, in-person basis.
  • Strong understanding of population health and value-based care principles.
  • Proficiency in using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
