The Role: Database Administrator

Mutakamela Insurance is seeking a Database Administrator to manage, optimize, and secure its database systems. This full-time role requires 2-5 years of experience, primarily in SQL Database Administration, with a preference for experience in MongoDB. The Database Administrator will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, integrity, and availability of database systems, implementing efficient backup and recovery strategies, and monitoring performance across various platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the health and performance of SQL databases, ensuring availability, reliability, and scalability.
• Implement and manage comprehensive backup and recovery plans for SQL databases, ensuring data protection and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances, databases, and related components.
• Administer database security policies, manage user access, and ensure compliance with best practices.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in SQL queries, indexing, and server performance, optimizing database configurations for maximum efficiency.
• Perform regular database software updates and patches to keep systems up to date and secure.
• Configure and maintain high-availability solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, database replication, and clustering.
• Continuously monitor and optimize SQL query performance, server load, and resource utilization.
• Develop scripts for database automation tasks including backup, maintenance, and monitoring.
