About the Role

Westin Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Director of Food & Beverage to lead the property's culinary and beverage operations in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role requires 5-10 years of relevant experience and functions as a strategic business leader, overseeing all aspects of Restaurants/Bars, Room Service, and Banquets/Catering.

Role Purpose and Strategic Impact

The Director of Food & Beverage is responsible for developing and implementing departmental strategies that align with the brand's service strategy and initiatives. This position ensures the food and beverage operation meets target customer needs, fosters employee satisfaction, drives revenue growth, and maximizes financial performance, ultimately delivering a strong return on investment for the property.

Financial Management and Strategic Planning

• Develop and manage the comprehensive Food and Beverage budget, monitoring actual and projected sales to achieve or exceed revenue goals.
• Review financial reports and statements to assess performance against budget, identifying areas of concern and developing strategies to enhance financial outcomes.
• Make recommendations for Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) funding for food and beverage equipment and renovations in accordance with brand business strategy.
• Ensure robust cash control and liquor control policies are implemented and adhered to across all food and beverage areas.
• Establish challenging, realistic, and obtainable goals to guide operational performance and strive for continuous service improvement.
• Identify opportunities to increase profits and create value by challenging existing processes, encouraging innovation, and driving necessary change.

Team Leadership and Human Resources

• Lead, influence, and encourage team members through effective interpersonal and communication skills, advocating sound financial and business decision-making.
• Foster mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members, serving as a role model for appropriate behaviors.
• Hire food and beverage leadership team members who demonstrate strong functional expertise, creativity, and entrepreneurial leadership.
• Provide guidance and direction to subordinates, setting clear performance standards and monitoring progress.
• Identify developmental needs of others and provide coaching, mentoring, or support to enhance knowledge and skills.
• Ensure regular, ongoing communication occurs across all food and beverage areas, maintaining open and collaborative relationships with direct reports and the entire team.
• Coach the leadership team to effectively manage wages, food and beverage costs, and controllable expenses.
• Ensure employees are treated fairly and equitably, addressing issues with Human Resources as necessary.

Guest Experience and Operational Excellence

• Deliver exceptional customer service that exceeds expectations, contributing to high guest satisfaction and retention.
• Improve service by ensuring team members understand guest needs, providing guidance, feedback, and individual coaching.
• Review guest feedback, including comment cards and satisfaction results, with the F&B team to implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Empower employees to provide excellent guest service while maintaining a balance between profit margins and service satisfaction.
• Stay informed of market trends and introduce new food and beverage products to meet or exceed customer expectations, generate increased revenue, and maintain a competitive market position.
• Estimate food, liquor, wine, and other beverage consumption to anticipate purchasing needs and manage inventory.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a leadership role within food and beverage operations, preferably in a hotel or resort setting.
• Proven ability to develop and implement strategic business plans for food and beverage departments.
• Strong financial acumen, including budget development, cost control, and revenue maximization.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and manage a diverse team.
• Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining high brand standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
