Qiddiya Investment Company (شركة قدية الاستثمارية) is seeking a Director - Design Management (Healthcare) to join their team in Riyadh, Riyadh Province. This full-time role involves managing design across the healthcare portfolio within Healthcare & Education Assets, overseeing the entire project lifecycle from initial briefing to final as-built documentation.

Role Overview

The Director will provide authoritative oversight of Lead Design Consultants and conduct technical reviews to ensure all design outputs align with approved development briefs, operator requirements, and organizational objectives. The role focuses on ensuring designs comply with regulatory standards, incorporate Safety in Design principles, deliver value for money, and support high-quality, buildable, and operationally effective project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and direct design consultant teams to ensure design evolution aligns with project requirements and approved programs, confirming adherence to contractual obligations.
• Develop and manage internal and external stakeholders to ensure milestone dates are met and project delivery remains on schedule.
• Ensure designs delivered by Lead Design Consultants are buildable and safe for construction. Assess contractor-initiated design changes for viability, coordination, compliance, and alignment with project briefs and QIC expectations.
• Develop design consultant scopes of work and contribute to contractor scopes where design responsibilities apply, defining project and technical requirements across all disciplines.
• Manage design within budget by identifying and evaluating value engineering opportunities while maintaining performance criteria, specifications, design intent, buildability, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Lead and manage the design approval process, securing necessary endorsements from stakeholders and overseeing the integration of approved changes to maintain alignment with briefs and objectives.
• Provide proactive leadership in identifying, assessing, and managing design-related risks, implementing mitigation measures across compliance, coordination, program, quality, approvals, stakeholder engagement, and buildability.
• Lead, coordinate, and monitor Safety in Design activities, including facilitating and tracking formal workshops to ensure design outputs meet safety, operational, and quality standards for construction, operationalization, and maintenance.
• Conduct technical reviews of design documents, ensuring coordination across disciplines, clear scope definition, and alignment with project briefs and healthcare facility specifications.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure clear communication, incorporation of requirements, timely direction, and securing of necessary approvals.
• Ensure all activities adhere to QIC policies, processes, systems, and reporting requirements, maintaining high standards of organizational compliance.
• Uphold robust governance frameworks, ensuring adherence to compliance, audit, and reporting obligations, and providing clear, accurate, and timely project reporting to executive stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in design management, preferably within the healthcare sector.
• Demonstrated ability to manage design across the full project lifecycle.
• Experience in overseeing Lead Design Consultants and conducting technical reviews.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards and Safety in Design principles.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, where the successful candidate will contribute to significant healthcare infrastructure projects within Qiddiya Investment Company.
