The Role: Director - Design Management

We are seeking a Director - Design Management to join our team in a full-time capacity. This key leadership position is responsible for guiding complex design programs from their early concept stages through to detailed design, contributing to ambitious development initiatives where design excellence, coordination, and delivery discipline are essential.

Role Purpose and Focus

The Director will play a critical role in driving alignment across various consultants, stakeholders, and project objectives. This involves ensuring that all design outcomes consistently support established quality standards, comply with relevant regulations, meet delivery expectations, and contribute to the broader development goals of the projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary design teams across the concept, schematic, and detailed design phases of projects.
• Manage external consultants to ensure the timely delivery of coordinated, high-quality design packages.
• Oversee design reviews, secure necessary approvals, and ensure full compliance with project standards and regulatory requirements.
• Align design outcomes with budget constraints, program schedules, stakeholder expectations, and overall development objectives.
• Present design progress, identify potential risks, and provide informed recommendations to executive leadership and key stakeholders.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 12+ years of experience leading large-scale design management across complex development projects.
• Demonstrated experience in managing multidisciplinary consultants and successfully delivering coordinated design packages.
• Strong background in leading design reviews and securing necessary authority approvals.
• Proven ability to effectively balance design quality with project budget, schedule, and stakeholder expectations.
• Experience presenting design progress, potential risks, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
