The Role of Electrical (Design) Engineer

The Electrical (Design) Engineer will join a specialized technical group responsible for technical design reviews of LV electrical management systems on a metro project. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and reports to the Senior Electrical (Design) Engineer. The role involves assessing and reviewing conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs for various structures, including underground, at-ground, and elevated stations, tunnels, and other transportation-related buildings.

Key Responsibilities

• Reviewing design equipment layouts for LV Switchboards, MCC Switchboards, and Automatic Transfer Switchboards (*
• Assessing the design, installation, and laying of LV cable lighting, small power low current cables, fire alarm, BMS systems, earthing, and lightning protection systems.
• Reviewing cable sizing, raceway calculations, cable correction factors, short circuit, and voltage drop analyses.
• Evaluating lighting illumination level analyses using DIALux/AGI32 software or similar programs.
• Reviewing design riser and single-line diagrams, circuiting, and interconnection diagrams for Low Voltage Systems.
• Examining cable load schedules, termination drawings, and shop drawing details.
• Calculating electrical loads based on NEC Standards and Local Body Regulations.
• Reviewing electrical engineering layouts, plans, and specifications against national building codes, NEC 2008, and RC (Royal Commission) standards.
• Providing comments on design drawings, shop drawings, material submittals, and RFIs from contractors.
• Reviewing and approving contract E&I design specifications and approved manufacturer lists.
• Coordinating design efforts with other engineering disciplines and draughtsmen.
• Overseeing and witnessing Factory Acceptance Tests for LV & MCC Switchboards at manufacturer’s plants, and actively participating in startup testing of all equipment, including interface control to ATS Switchboards, Standby Generators, Fuel distribution systems, Fire-alarm, Fire Pumps, and BMS Systems.
