ENGINEER ELECTRICAL DESIGN

About the Role

Alfanar Projects is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time role involves leading and managing the design and development of electrical systems and components for various projects, ensuring functionality, safety, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. The position requires 5-10 years of experience in electrical design.

Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems and components using CAD software such as AutoCAD and REVIT, along with specialized design tools.
• Develop detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications for electrical systems in buildings, industrial facilities, or infrastructure projects, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security, and control systems.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant electrical codes, standards, and regulations, including the National Electrical Code (NEC), International Building Code (IBC), and local building and safety codes (SBC).
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, contractors, and clients, to coordinate electrical design activities.
• Conduct load calculations and electrical system analysis to ensure proper sizing and performance of electrical equipment and systems, considering factors such as voltage drop, short-circuit currents, and fault protection.
• Review and verify the accuracy of electrical drawings to ensure they meet project requirements and adhere to quality standards.
• Identify and resolve technical issues or discrepancies in electrical designs, working closely with the engineering team as needed.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams and external vendors to convey technical information and address concerns related to electrical drawings.
• Assist in project coordination by providing timely updates on the status of electrical drawings and collaborating with other team members to meet project deadlines.
• Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies in electrical design, seeking opportunities to improve design processes, efficiency, and effectiveness.

Role Accountabilities

• Lay out electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, communication, and control systems.
• Create accurate and detailed drawings, including schematics, circuit diagrams, and wiring diagrams using software such as AutoCAD, REVIT, Etap, and other specialized design tools.
• Research, evaluate, and select electrical components, equipment, and materials based on project requirements, performance criteria, and cost considerations.
• Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and engineering drawings to communicate design specifications, procedures, and findings.
• Ensure that electrical designs comply with relevant industry standards, building codes, safety regulations, and certification requirements.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews of designs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
• Provide technical expertise and support to clients, contractors, and internal teams throughout the design, implementation, and maintenance phases of projects.
• Create detailed electrical drawings, plans, and diagrams using computer-aided design (CAD and REVIT) software, accurately representing the layout of electrical systems.
• Review technical specifications and design documents to understand project requirements and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
• Check drawings for accuracy and completeness, including dimensions, labels, and symbols, and identify and correct errors or discrepancies.
• Revise and update electrical drawings as needed to reflect changes in design and specifications.
• Organize and maintain a library of electrical drawings, documents, and related project files.
• Ensure that electrical drawings comply with relevant safety regulations and building codes.

Qualifications and Experience

• A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 5-10 years of experience in electrical design.
• Proficiency in CAD software (*, AutoCAD, REVIT) and specialized electrical design tools.
• Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and regulations (NEC, IBC, SBC).
• Demonstrated ability to perform load calculations and electrical system analysis.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
