Head of Architectural

About the Role

Dar Al Riyadh is seeking an experienced Head of Architectural to lead and manage the architectural design department within its engineering consultancy. This full-time role is based in Riyadh and involves overseeing architectural projects from concept through detailed design and construction documentation. The successful candidate will ensure design excellence, technical compliance, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams, while adhering to project schedules and budgets.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural department and oversee all architectural design activities across multiple projects.
• Review and approve concept designs, schematic designs, detailed designs, and construction documentation.
• Ensure design solutions meet client requirements, project objectives, quality standards, and applicable building codes.
• Establish and maintain architectural design standards, guidelines, and best practices.
• Provide technical direction and resolve complex architectural design challenges.

Project Management and Delivery Oversight

• Oversee architectural project deliverables throughout all project stages.
• Monitor project progress, resource allocation, deadlines, and design quality.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable regulations.
• Identify design risks, technical issues, and potential project delays, implementing corrective actions when required.
• Support project managers in achieving project milestones and delivery targets.

Team Leadership and Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of architects, senior architects, and architectural designers.
• Allocate resources and workloads based on project priorities and team capabilities.
• Conduct technical reviews and performance evaluations.
• Identify training needs and promote continuous professional development.
• Foster collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence within the department.

Technical Coordination and BIM Implementation

• Oversee the implementation and effective use of BIM workflows, Revit, and related design technologies.
• Ensure architectural models and drawings are accurate, coordinated, and compliant with project BIM requirements.
• Coordinate with structural, MEP, infrastructure, and other engineering disciplines to resolve design clashes and interface issues.
• Review BIM deliverables, model quality, drawing packages, and design documentation.
• Promote efficient digital design practices and continuous improvement in design coordination.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 15 years of experience in architectural design, with a significant portion in a leadership role.
• Strong leadership skills and extensive architectural design experience.
• Ability to manage teams, engage with clients, and deliver high-quality design solutions.
• Proficiency in local regulations and international standards relevant to architectural design.
• Experience in client and stakeholder management, acting as a primary architectural point of contact.
• Demonstrated ability to ensure quality assurance and regulatory compliance for architectural designs.
