Resident Obstetrics & Gynecologist

About the Opportunity

National Medical Care is seeking a dedicated and skilled Resident Obstetrics & Gynecologist to join our full-time team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role is ideal for medical professionals with 0-1 years of experience, focusing on providing high-quality inpatient care. The Resident will ensure professional performance aligns with medical ethics, JCIA standards, hospital by-laws, and Ministry of Health regulations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide superior medical treatment, compassion, and understanding to all patients at National Medical Care.
• Conduct history taking, physical examinations, interpret common diagnostic tests, and document patient conditions upon admission.
• Admit patients from the hospital ER following discussion and approval from the assigned Consultant.
• Evaluate new admissions, coordinate investigation plans with the Consultant to establish diagnoses, and execute approved management courses.
• Perform daily ward rounds for all inpatients in the department and liaise with Consultants regarding patient care.
• Document patient management plans and maintain accurate, timely, and legible medical records with updated progress notes.
• Seek advice and assistance from the Consultant when a patient's condition requires further expertise, working under their supervision and instructions.
• Prepare discharge summaries, death reports, and special reports for relevant patients.
• Present new admissions during daily morning reports.
• Actively participate in the department's on-call rota for patient care and admissions, responding to emergencies within the specialty.
• Assist Consultants in performing diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
• Supervise Junior Staff in their designated duties and responsibilities.

Patient and Family Engagement

• Involve patients and their families in the plan of care, respecting their goals and choices.
• Provide health promotion and teaching using methods appropriate to the patient's developmental level, learning needs, readiness, language preference, culture, and situation.
• Allocate necessary time to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient education, ensuring appropriate documentation.
• Utilize the nursing process to create and coordinate individualized teaching plans.
• Create patient care assignments based on competency regarding surgical procedures.

Reporting Structure and Collaboration

The Resident Obstetrics & Gynecologist reports directly to the Head, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. This role involves close liaison with all physicians responsible for patient care and their families. While the Resident does not directly supervise other staff, they will assist Consultants and supervise Junior Staff as designated by the department.

Professional Standards and Development

The successful candidate will abide by all departmental policies and procedures, as well as hospital by-laws, rules, and regulations. Active participation in the department’s educational and training activities is expected. The Resident will also carry out any other assignments as directed by the Head of Department, within their knowledge, skills, and abilities.
