About the Role

Amazon Saudi Arabia is seeking a Safety Officer, WHS to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time position involves driving health and safety initiatives across a fulfillment center. The Safety Officer will report directly to the WHS Manager and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment as the company continues to expand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead site risk assessments for both current and new activities.
  • Establish and manage the site's WHS training matrix.
  • Oversee the implementation of site-specific WHS standards, guidelines, objectives, and programs.
  • Promote a safe culture among employees by providing daily WHS content during shift briefings.
  • Conduct frequent site safety audits to identify non-compliant equipment or processes.
  • Collaborate with the Operations team to implement solutions that eliminate risks and prevent injuries.
  • Respond to incidents and occupational injury cases on site.
  • Guide and assist area managers with incident investigations, Gensuite write-ups, and communication of lessons learned.
  • Support the Operations team in Gensuite follow-up and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) creation.
  • Audit record-keeping practices to ensure Gensuite entries align with global WHS standards and local regulations.
  • Manage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) inventory and coordinate procurement.
  • Conduct weekly Key Safety Requirement (KSR) audits, monitoring, and support.
  • Ensure completion of basic Fire Fighting and first aid training.
  • Perform daily Powered Industrial Tool and Trailer Dock Release inspections and communications.
  • Monitor and support the Daily Action Tracking System.
  • Participate in site management safety walks, providing insights into unsafe acts and conditions.
  • Provide daily updates to the Country WHS Manager on objective progress, incidents, KSR, ATS, and network actions.
  • Prepare WHS committee meeting agendas, minutes of meetings (MOM), and ATS creation.
  • Review and sign off on daily Permit to Work requests.
  • Lead WHS-related procurement and follow-up.
  • Prepare and manage emergency response plans and conduct emergency drills.
  • Manage the preparation and training for emergency drills, including record keeping.
  • Establish, monitor, and support the Heat Index.
  • Provide support for site-specific requests, unplanned events, and activities.
  • Conduct daily and weekly WHS audits, including hazard waste room, spill kit, and first aid room inspections.

Qualifications and Experience

  • NEBOSH (National General Certificate) qualification is required.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a relevant safety role.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in English communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate effective interaction with stakeholders at all levels.

Work Environment

This role is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and is a full-time position within a dynamic fulfillment center environment. The Safety Officer will work closely with various operational teams and report to the WHS Manager, contributing to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
