King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center (KFSH) in Riyadh is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse I to join its team. This full-time position is integral to providing high-quality patient care within a leading medical institution in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role requires a commitment to established nursing standards and continuous professional development.

Role Overview

The Staff Nurse I is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care, utilizing the nursing process, and adhering to established standards of nursing practice and performance. This position demonstrates leadership competencies when assigned as a charge nurse or acting as a shift resource or team leader, contributing to effective unit operations and patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide total patient care as assigned, following core standards, established policies, and evidence-based practices.
  • Assume accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, including discharge planning.
  • Contribute to decreasing patient length of stay and waiting times in line with unit-specific goals, collaborating with Case Management.
  • Document all relevant patient information accurately, appropriately, and in a timely manner.
  • Report equipment failures, safety and security concerns, and reductions in supply inventory to the Head Nurse or designee.
  • Demonstrate collaborative multidisciplinary partnerships to achieve continuous improvement in quality patient care.
  • Act as an advocate for patients and their families.
  • Identify opportunities to improve patient care quality and address issues that may negatively affect patient care outcomes, utilizing the professional practice framework.
  • Promote a safe environment and safe patient care by embracing a safety culture and identifying areas of risk.
  • Comply with all policies related to personal and patient safety, as well as the prevention of healthcare-associated infections.
  • Contribute to achieving cost efficiency savings within the unit, maintaining awareness of resource utilization.
  • Participate in achieving clinical quality outcome indicators and enhancing patient satisfaction.
  • Lead unit-based Performance Improvement activities as assigned.

Professional Development and Mentorship

  • Participate in the orientation of new staff and nursing students to foster competence and performance.
  • Assist in maintaining a suitable learning environment and act as a preceptor or mentor for nursing students and new staff.
  • Demonstrate transcultural principles in daily nursing practice.
  • Contribute to special projects and assignments aligned with nursing strategic priorities and the professional practice model.
  • Promote and share knowledge through mentorship, in line with relevant research and evidence-based practice.
  • Participate in personal and peer education, training, and development initiatives.

Qualifications and Requirements

Candidates for the Staff Nurse I position must meet the following essential qualifications and experience:

  • Current Registered Nurse Licensure from the country of origin.
  • Saudi Commission for Health Specialties Licensure is required.
  • A minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant nursing experience.

Hospital Policies and Procedures

All Staff Nurses are expected to strictly adhere to all Hospital-related policies and procedures, ensuring a consistent standard of care and operational compliance across all functions.
