Role Overview

GE Vernova is seeking a Testing and Commissioning Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is central to commencing, coordinating, and completing Testing & Commissioning Works for Electrical substation protection and control systems. The engineer will ensure strict adherence to overall project targets, including safety, quality, cost, and delivery, as well as the technical specifications outlined in the contract.

Core Responsibilities

  • Organize and manage all substation tests.
  • Prepare comprehensive test plans and associated test procedures.
  • Execute all types of site tests for protection and control systems.
  • Establish and regularly update testing schedules in alignment with the overall project timeline.
  • Manage test equipment on site, such as digital multi-meters, injection sets, and watt-meters, ensuring all have valid calibration certificates.
  • Verify that all site tests comply with contract requirements regarding quality and type.
  • Issue and manage non-conformance reports as necessary.
  • Ensure all drawings are marked-up accurately for the preparation of as-built documentation.
  • Centralize and file test reports, confirming they are duly approved and signed by the Consultant (if applicable) or Client.
  • Organize and manage the backup of all equipment computer files, including protection relay settings and equipment configuration, for delivery with marked-up drawings.

Project Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure full compliance with PMH, GRID Quality & EHS Policies, and IMS procedures.
  • Record and report Quality Objectives & KPI data.
  • Coordinate daily activities effectively with the Client.
  • Recommend field changes that are beneficial to plant operations or essential for efficient commissioning.
  • Prepare a final Commissioning report detailing problem areas, recommended engineering changes, improvements in organizational efficiency, and personnel performance evaluations to provide feedback to the PM Team.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports of activities performed by the Commissioning group, highlighting any negative events such as delays, design/erection errors, or missing spares.
  • Monitor safety procedures, including Permits, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and LOTO, ensuring all high-risk activities are followed during operation sequences and in the use of equipment and materials.

Required Experience

Candidates for this position should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in testing and commissioning electrical substation protection and control systems.
