VAT & Zakat Accountant

About the Role

Al Jazirah Vehicles Agencies Co. Ltd. is seeking a VAT & Zakat Accountant to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves supporting accounting supervisors and managers by handling various accounting duties, preparing financial entries, and ensuring compliance with established procedures.

Job Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to provide essential accounting support within the department. This includes preparing daily worksheets for the General Ledger system, maintaining complete and accurate files, and assisting accounting personnel with their duties to ensure smooth financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries for depreciation and accumulated depreciation.
• Perform data entry for accounting transactions such as payables, receivables, collections, and general ledger entries, ensuring all transactions are authorized, documented, and classified according to standards.
• Support the personnel department by updating new hire information and notifying employees of entitlements and deductions, including annual leaves, overtime, attendance, medical leaves, and compensation & benefits.
• Prepare various action forms related to personnel.
• Verify daily petty cash and prepare payment vouchers for replenishment.
• Prepare daily cash and bank vouchers and monitor cash receipts and bank deposits.
• Check customer invoices for all sales types, compare them with system printouts for accuracy, and dispatch originals to the collection department.
• Follow up with sales departments on undelivered invoices.
• Verify customer remittances against balances to ensure settlements and control aging.
• Prepare "Work in Progress" reports and verify the physical presence of vehicles in the workshop.
• Check and verify supplier invoices for all company purchases for accuracy, authorization, and supervisor approval, then enter data into the system.
• Assist in maintaining the Fixed Assets Register and preparing monthly provisions for depreciation entries.
• Calculate profit or loss on the sale of assets.
• Regularly update Fixed Assets data in the system and compare monthly Fixed Assets activities with the trial balance.
• Prepare timely and accurate monthly payroll reports.
• Prepare and forward Ageing reports for customers and suppliers to management.
• Prepare Work in Progress (WIPS) reports for the department.
• Adhere to all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions.
• Comply with all relevant safety, quality, and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience is required.
• Demonstrated experience in VAT (Value Added Tax).
• Demonstrated experience in Zakat.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, within a dynamic accounting department supporting various operational functions of Al Jazirah Vehicles Agencies Co. Ltd.
