About the Role

Airbus ** is seeking a Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineer X-Plant for the 2nd Shift to join their team in Al Qatif. This full-time position requires 5-10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering and involves leading a team of manufacturing engineers within the X-Plant Department. The role is integral to the leadership team, focusing on coordinating and executing activities essential for X-Plant team functions and supporting the X-Plant MFT business area.

Role Context and Responsibilities

As a Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineer X-Plant, you will assist in coordinating all activities related to the X-Plant team functions within your designated business area. Your primary responsibility is to ensure timely and orderly execution of tasks supporting the X-Plant MFT and Operations Leader Manager, including technical analysis, part ordering, work order creation, and OSW analysis. You will proactively identify critical points, initiate actions, and follow through to task closure. This role involves managing and leading the X-Plant Team, aligning operational priorities and deliverables with FAL & Flightline milestones, and ensuring team members possess the required competencies and skill proficiency. Effective communication with the X-Plant MFT, X-Plant Leadership, and wider FAL teams is crucial.

Key Duties and Tasks

  • Lead and manage a team of up to 10 white-collar manufacturing engineers.
  • Manage and lead QSRs, complex rework/repairs, and working parties by developing and executing plans with the nominated MFT.
  • Ensure effective coordination and planning during working party preparation and coach on best practices.
  • Oversee the effective implementation of late changes by the MFT, including work order preparation and logistics.
  • Attend management-level meetings to provide technical guidance and planning updates.
  • Lead daily SQCDP routines and prioritize tasks with the Manufacturing Engineering team.
  • Drive optimal solutions for X-Plant related Outstanding Work Items within the assigned business area.
  • Provide and ensure technical leadership within the X-Plant MFT and coordinate with engineering functions globally.
  • Liaise with plants, suppliers, and procurement to organize OSW items.
  • Determine operational priorities, daily targets, goals, and objectives in line with X-Plant Dept. and FAL targets.
  • Plan, organize, supervise, and provide context to direct reports.
  • Coordinate manufacturing engineering support for integrated product development teams.
  • Ensure function targets, daily performance reviews, and feedback are completed within the assigned team.
  • Ensure X-Plant planning and reporting tools are concurrent and implemented within the team.
  • Manage and develop an engaged team, providing technical leadership and guidance.
  • Plan and implement changes related to aircraft, processes, and ways of working.
  • Define manufacturing and assembly strategies for X-Plant OSW.
  • Provide quality and timely work instructions to the X-Plant Operations Team.
  • Optimize and implement processes to improve department and business performance.
  • Master aircraft manufacturing techniques, industrial processes, planning, and organization.
  • Prevent and eliminate disturbances in the manufacturing process and monitor interfaces between FAL and suppliers.
  • Contribute to the elimination/resolution of repetitive non-conformities within the FAL.
  • Manage and integrate activities performed in FAL by Airbus Plants & Suppliers.
  • Ensure consistency of operations and products through best practice exchange.
  • Interview, hire, lead, and coach team members, developing their skills.
  • Preserve a high standard of technical knowledge among the workforce.
  • Ensure fulfillment of legal and airworthiness requirements.
  • Contribute to enhancing the corporate image by maintaining a high FAL environment standard.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or a similar field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience within Airbus, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and leading teams.
  • Strong Manufacturing Engineering experience and skill set.
  • Experience working with internal & external partners, suppliers, and plants.
  • X-Plant and/or Plant experience.
  • High degree of flexibility and initiative.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of the Airbus worksharing structure, specifically the A320 Program.
  • Motivation to learn.
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D engineering drawings and technical standards.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, methods, and tools used in manufacturing engineering.
  • Knowledge of rules for aircraft design and manufacturing.
  • Ability to work effectively in team environments, including cross-functional teams, as well as independently.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with internal customers.
  • Ability to work in an international team.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to present clear and concise briefings and reports to customers and executives.
  • Knowledge of Airbus processes and methods.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite (Google Mail, Docs, and Sheets).
  • Familiarity with Airbus IT-Tools (AIRINA, TAKSY, ECM, eQLB, ALB).
  • Knowledge of common applications such as SAP.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with all internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work in an international team of people with different cultural backgrounds.
  • High degree of work-related flexibility and initiative.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Regular coordination with internal & external suppliers globally.
  • Communication & Planning with multifunctional teams across the organization.
  • Primary internal audience includes Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality & Logistics.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This is an onsite position requiring 100% presence at the Al Qatif location. The role demands a high degree of work-related flexibility and initiative. Physical requirements include the ability to see and read computer screens and documents daily, hear to participate in conversations and on the production floor, speak in conversations and meetings, operate office and some production equipment, carry up to 30lbs/14kgs, lift up to 30lbs/14kgs irregularly, push/pull small office furniture and equipment irregularly, sit for long periods, squat/kneel irregularly, and stand for discussions daily. Walking through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces, is required daily. Travel up to 10% of the time may be required. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, and gloves may be required as dictated by site or customer requirements. Steel-toed shoes are mandatory for all shop floor visits.
