About the Carpenter Role at InterContinental Hotels Group

InterContinental Hotels Group is seeking a skilled Carpenter to join its team in a full-time capacity. This role is integral to maintaining the structural integrity and aesthetic quality of the hotel's wooden elements. The position requires 2-5 years of experience, focusing on carpentry repairs, maintenance, and installation work across the property.

Role Purpose and Contribution

The primary purpose of the Carpenter is to ensure all wooden fixtures, furniture, doors, cabinets, and related structures are maintained in excellent condition. This directly contributes to providing a safe, functional, and high-quality environment, thereby enhancing the overall guest experience within the hotel premises.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective carpentry maintenance throughout the hotel.
• Repair and maintain doors, windows, furniture, cabinets, shelves, and other wooden fixtures.
• Install, assemble, and modify wooden structures and fittings as required.
• Inspect hotel facilities and identify carpentry maintenance requirements.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and complete assigned work orders.
• Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood and other materials using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Ensure all carpentry work meets hotel quality standards and safety regulations.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and the workshop in clean and safe working condition.
• Coordinate with other Engineering team members during renovation and maintenance projects.
• Report material requirements and assist in maintaining spare parts and inventory.
• Follow hotel policies, engineering procedures, and health & safety regulations.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Engineering management.

Qualifications and Experience

• High school diploma or a vocational/trade certificate in Carpentry or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of carpentry experience, preferably gained in a hotel, resort, or commercial facility.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Ability to read technical drawings and use measuring tools accurately.
• Good knowledge of carpentry tools, equipment, and woodworking techniques.
• Basic English communication skills are required; proficiency in Arabic is considered an advantage.
