About Red Sea Global and Botanica

Red Sea Global is seeking a Plant Nursery Biosecurity & Plant Health Manager to join Botanica, a subsidiary dedicated to providing sustainable greenery across Red Sea Global’s destinations. Botanica integrates new species with local flora, operating across 1 million square meters with a planet-first approach to sustainability. Since 2020, Botanica has cultivated over 5 million plants, with a goal of 30 million by 2030, contributing to the natural landscapes of The Red Sea & Amaala in Tabuk, Umluj. The team includes 40% local community members, focusing on ecological harmony and sustainable development.

Role Overview

The Plant Nursery Biosecurity & Plant Health Manager will develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive plant biosecurity and quality management program. This full-time role focuses on safeguarding plant health, minimizing pest and disease risks, and ensuring consistent production standards across nursery and greenhouse operations. The manager will establish effective systems, procedures, and monitoring processes that integrate biosecurity best practices with research, development, and production goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a site-wide biosecurity management framework for nursery and greenhouse operations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for plant health threats, pest entry points, and operational vulnerabilities.
  • Establish and maintain clear operating procedures for plant movement, sanitation, propagation, and waste handling.
  • Ensure alignment on biosecurity protocols across research, production, and operational teams.
  • Set up inspection and monitoring schedules for plant health, hygiene, and pest management.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and traceability systems for plant material, suppliers, and sanitation activities.
  • Coordinate internal reviews, audits, and corrective actions to ensure ongoing compliance with internal standards and external requirements.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for staff on plant health, biosecurity, hygiene, and traceability.
  • Promote awareness and accountability across teams to foster a proactive culture of biosecurity.
  • Analyze plant health and operational data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations on biosecurity performance for R&D and management teams.
  • Support trials, evaluations, and R&D initiatives that contribute to improved plant resilience and production practices.
  • Collaborate with production, research, and facilities teams to align practices and share insights.
  • Liaise with plant health authorities, certification bodies, and industry partners as required.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in plant biosecurity and plant health management, preferably within nursery or greenhouse operations. The position requires a strong understanding of biosecurity best practices, risk assessment, and quality management systems.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Tabuk, Umluj, contributing to projects in The Red Sea & Amaala. The role involves working within a team committed to sustainable development and ecological harmony, in a fast-evolving environment focused on transforming landscapes and preserving biodiversity.
