Gateway Operations Supervisor

About the Role

DHL is seeking a Gateway Operations Supervisor for a full-time position in Jeddah. This role involves supervising a gateway operations team on a rostered shift basis, ensuring that all shipments comply with network procedures and meet transit time standards as they enter and exit the country.

Role Purpose and Context

The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the efficient flow of international shipments through the gateway. This includes managing operational teams to ensure timely processing, clearance, and dispatch of all inbound and outbound cargo, maintaining adherence to established quality and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Organize appropriate shifts and manning levels to meet business requirements.
• Ensure incoming shipments are recovered, "break bulked," inspected, and cleared efficiently.
• Manage the receipt and lodgment of outbound shipments from country operations to ensure timely departure and uplift.
• Ensure accurate sorting and optimum loading of all inbound and outbound shipments.
• Monitor ground handler and warehouse provider performance and complete all necessary reports.
• Ensure safe working practices and environment within the shift.
• Participate in gateway quality policy and initiatives, such as ISO.

Team Leadership and Development

• Develop a high-performance service culture within the functional department.
• Plan, organize, and direct an efficient and effective functional department.
• Develop IKOs/KPIs with team members and monitor individual performance.
• Conduct performance appraisals.
• Manage the allocation of appropriate resources and commitment of staff to achieve Global, Regional, and Country objectives and targets.
• Identify training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled functional department.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in operations or a similar field. The role requires a strong understanding of logistics and supply chain processes, with a focus on international shipment handling and regulatory compliance.

This is a full-time position based in Jeddah, requiring work on a rostered shift basis to ensure continuous operational coverage. The role involves overseeing a team within a dynamic gateway environment, focusing on maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.
