Bupa Arabia is offering a Coop - Actuarial internship opportunity in Jeddah. This role is designed as an entry point into the actuarial profession, focusing on hands-on actuarial production work. The intern will support the Manager across various actuarial functions, including reserving, regulatory reporting, pricing support, and claims analytics. This internship provides a foundation for building technical skills, understanding cross-functional contexts, and preparing for future actuarial roles.

Key Responsibilities

• Support reserving production by extracting, cleaning, and reconciling claims, premium, and exposure data.
• Execute reserving model runs (IBNR, URR, LRC, LIC, risk adjustment) and populate related templates and schedules.
• Assist with regulatory reporting by populating SAMA, CCHI, and CMA submission templates and reconciling outputs.
• Prepare data extracts and working papers for the external Appointed Actuary.
• Provide support for pricing calculations for group renewals, SME, and Retail segments.
• Conduct claims analytics, including loss-ratio, frequency, severity, utilization analyses, and unit cost tracking.
• Build and maintain supporting models using SAS, Python, R, or Excel, and automate recurring tasks.
• Contribute to data quality improvements, reconciliation routines, and issue logs.
• Maintain working papers, methodology notes, and change logs to audit-ready standards.
• Participate in process-improvement initiatives and knowledge-transfer sessions.

Professional Development

• Progress foundational actuarial exams (SOA / IFoA / CAS) through the Company-supported pathway.
• Develop a cross-functional understanding of Underwriting, Claims, Pre-Auth, Operations, and Finance through rotations, shadowing, and cross-training.
• Actively participate in knowledge-transfer sessions, training, and mentoring from senior team members.
• Enhance technical skills in SAS, Python, R, SQL, Excel, and IFRS 17 tooling.
• Build professional relationships with peers across the actuarial team and partner functions.

Technical Skills and Tools

• Proficiency in data extraction, triangulation, and model execution.
• Experience with SAS, Python, R, or Excel for model building and analysis.
• Ability to perform reconciliations and maintain high accuracy in data outputs.
• Understanding of regulatory reporting requirements (SAMA, CCHI, CMA) is beneficial.
• Familiarity with IFRS 17 tooling is an advantage.

Work Environment and Collaboration

The Coop - Actuarial intern will work as an individual contributor, collaborating closely with the Manager and other team members. The role requires a disciplined approach to documentation, governance, and peer-review protocols to ensure audit-ready standards.
