About the Role

Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) is seeking a Senior Dental Assistant to join our team in Ras Tannurah. This full-time position is central to providing efficient and effective patient care by performing specialized dental assistant tasks in support of dentists and dental therapists. The role requires a professional with 5 to 10 years of experience in a relevant dental setting.

Core Responsibilities

The Senior Dental Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting a wide array of dental procedures and maintaining clinical efficiency. Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting dental therapists and dentists during patient examinations and procedures across various treatments, including diagnostic, operative, surgical, periodontal, preventive, orthodontic, prosthodontic, endodontic, and pedodontic care.
• Performing clinical supportive functions such as preparing and dismissing patients, sterilizing and disinfecting instruments and equipment, providing postoperative instructions, maintaining supplies, and keeping accurate records.
• Fully participating in four-handed dentistry, working closely with the dentist to enhance procedural efficiency and patient comfort.
• Providing guidance and support to Associate Dental Aides, contributing to team development and operational excellence.

Specialized Clinical Duties

This role involves a range of specialized hands-on tasks critical to dental procedures:

• Placing and removing rubber dams, temporary restorations, polishing of restorations, periodontal dressings, matrices, intracoronal provisional restorations, and retraction cords and bases/liners.
• Taking alginate impressions for study models.
• Removing surgical sutures.
• Applying topical fluoride, including foam and varnish.
• Polishing clinical crowns to remove stains, as well as fabricating and cementing provisional crowns and bridges, including the removal of excess cement.
• Processing preliminary charting and assisting with suture removal procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements

Candidates for this position must meet the following criteria:

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience as a Dental Assistant.
• Possession of SCFHS Certification, as applicable.

Work Environment and Reporting

The Senior Dental Assistant will operate across various Dental Services facilities within JHAH. This role involves receiving supervision and technical guidance directly from the dentist during clinical procedures and reporting administratively to the Supervisor of Dental Support.
