Aquat Food Industries is seeking an Environmental Health Safety Specialist to join its team in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is integral to maintaining and enhancing our environmental, health, and safety standards across all plant operations.

Role Overview

The Environmental Health Safety Specialist will be responsible for leading and developing comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs within our plant operations. This position focuses on ensuring environmental compliance, effective waste management, operational planning, environmental risk assessment, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The specialist will ensure all activities align with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) systems, programs, and procedures.
• Lead environmental compliance activities and ensure adherence to local regulations, environmental legislation, and company standards.
• Develop annual work plans, departmental objectives, and KPIs, monitoring performance against strategic goals.
• Manage environmental operational requirements across pre-operational, operational, and post-operational phases.
• Plan and manage operational capacity, efficiency, effectiveness, and resource utilization.
• Lead environmental audits, inspections, monitoring, verification, and compliance assessments.
• Identify environmental risks and implement preventive and corrective actions to minimize operational hazards.
• Oversee waste management, industrial wastewater treatment, air quality monitoring, pollution control, and sustainability initiatives.
• Develop environmental specifications, standards, technical procedures, and operational guidelines.
• Provide technical guidance and engineering solutions for environmental and EHS-related challenges.
• Coordinate with Plant Operations, Engineering, Contractors, Suppliers, and Head Office to ensure environmental compliance.
• Lead environmental training, awareness programs, and communication initiatives for plant personnel.
• Review and approve environmental aspects of new equipment, machinery, projects, and installations.
• Monitor changes in environmental legislation and ensure organizational compliance.
• Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
• Manage environmental KPIs, reporting, documentation, and continuous improvement programs.
• Participate in strategic planning and environmental program development across multiple facilities.
• Support Saudization initiatives, employee engagement, occupational safety programs, and regulatory compliance.
• Act as the environmental technical advisor to management, employees, contractors, and external stakeholders.
• Assume Safety Section responsibilities when required, specifically for candidates who are NEBOSH qualified.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years of experience in environmental management or a related Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) field. A strong understanding of environmental regulations and industry best practices is essential. Candidates must be NEBOSH qualified to assume Safety Section responsibilities when required. The ability to lead and manage complex EHS programs is also a key requirement.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based at our facilities in Jeddah, Makkah. The role involves working closely with various departments, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure a compliant and safe operational environment. The specialist will contribute to environmental program development across multiple facilities.
