UCC Holding is seeking an Environmental Officer to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time position is integral to upholding environmental best practices and fostering sustainable development across the company's projects and facilities.

The Role of Environmental Officer

The Environmental Officer ensures adherence to industry best practices, focusing on both results and effectiveness, to identify and disseminate information on environmental programs that incorporate sustainable development. This role encourages projects to apply environmental principles and actively participate in sustainable development programs and activities at local, regional, and international levels. The officer will also stay informed of international developments that contribute to environmental best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all environmental matters for assigned projects, yards, and facilities, including developing specific environmental requirements.
• Implement the Environment Management Plan (EMP) and support the development of the project's HSE strategy.
• Identify and distribute information on environmental programs that integrate sustainable development.
• Monitor the impact of operations on the natural environment, identify areas of risk, and develop adaptive management strategies to mitigate impacts.
• Conduct Environment Aspects and Impacts Analysis for all working sites.
• Recommend appropriate suggestions for the positive enhancement of the environment.
• Ensure that negative and significant impacts of project activities are limited, reduced, and controlled to achieve positive changes.
• Examine and maintain continual improvement through continuous monitoring, checking, and evaluating existing operational processes.
• Recommend environmental enhancement tools for air, water, land, noise, dust, and waste, for discussion, planning, implementation, and evaluation in operations.
• Assist in preparing service proposal tenders and project bidding documents, specifically concerning environment and sustainability.
• Ensure all requirements are met and satisfied as per set criteria and proposed requests.
• Amend proposal implementations based on emerging provisions and propositions.
• Comply with all organizational and legislative requirements.
• Promote and develop environmental awareness, training, and programs for all operations.
• Conduct environmental awareness training programs across operations to foster a positive attitude among employees and workers towards environmental development.
• Suggest practical methodologies and measures for existing and emerging environmental issues.
• Provide HSE trainings.
• Ensure that environment-positive approaches and initiatives from employees and workers are implemented and acknowledged.
• Ensure overall objectives set by the HSE Department are identified and met.
• Ensure that all environmental objectives and targets are reviewed and evaluated.
• Discuss all environmental objectives and targets with the head of the HSE Department (in the project) / project HSE manager for effective implementation across operations.
• Evaluate Environment objectives and targets periodically for continual improvement.
• Act as a technical expert and catalyst, providing guidance, advice, and support to sites and projects on environmental-related issues.
• Recommend technical advice, measures, and methodologies to address emerging issues.
• Advise on management and containment for all types of environmental issues.
• Work to prevent the occurrence and reoccurrence of environmental incidents and accidents.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, or any related field.
• 0–6+ years of experience in the environmental field.
• A Diploma in NEBOSH or Lead Auditor certifications in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 22301 are preferred.
