About Dar Al Riyadh and the Planning Scheduler Engineer Role

Dar Al Riyadh is seeking a Planning Scheduler Engineer to join its team in Makkah. This full-time position requires over 10 years of experience and is central to leading project controls and document control functions to ensure efficient project delivery across assigned programs.

Role Overview

The Planning Scheduler Engineer will lead project controls and document control staff, ensuring the efficient delivery of project control initiatives. This role involves the preparation of comprehensive project controls plans, providing oversight and review of consultant planning and scheduling activities, and ensuring the effective execution of project controls programs in accordance with departmental procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the project controls and document control staff to ensure efficient project control delivery.
  • Prepare Project Controls plans for assigned projects.
  • Provide oversight and review of the Consultant’s planning and scheduling, including staff plans, manpower histograms, and project progress measurement.
  • Ensure effective execution of Project Controls programs in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Review contract drafts to ensure adequate cost and scope definition and compliance with Project Controls requirements.
  • Coordinate the development of all data supporting negotiations.
  • Apply appropriate planning and scheduling techniques as per the approved Project Controls/Execution Plan.
  • Ensure Project Controls Systems provide effective control tools for supervisory staff.
  • Lead the process of capital budget determination and scope of work definition.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of planning software and techniques, and ensure staff skill development.
  • Inform the Department Manager, project manager, and other stakeholders of potential threats to schedule completion and propose remedial actions.
  • Prepare internal and client weekly and monthly project status reports.
  • Review Engineering Consultants’ schedules and programs.
  • Develop and execute staffing plans for the project organization to ensure resource availability.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and direct Project Controls presentations to client management as required.
  • Direct overall project control activities.
  • Develop, interpret, and execute policies, objectives, and standards for cost and schedule control and analysis.
  • Appraise subordinate performance and identify/implement training and development needs.
  • Establish and promote good working relations with the team, project staff, and clients.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered engineer with the Saudi Council of Engineers.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Preferred: Certificated Project Management Professional (PMP or Prince 2).

Essential Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency in planning and scheduling computer programs such as Primavera and MS Project.
  • Advanced knowledge of project management software, including Microsoft Project, Primavera, MS Office, and Power BI.
  • Ability to analyze project performance, prepare comprehensive reports highlighting potential risks and issues, and recommend suitable solutions.
  • Excellent oral communication, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and Quality Control procedures.
  • Strong systematic thinking, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated communication, project management, and problem-solving abilities.

This full-time role involves working within a dedicated team, collaborating closely with project staff, consultants, and clients to achieve project objectives. The successful candidate will be instrumental in fostering strong working relationships and contributing to a controlled and efficient project delivery environment.
